Just One (1) AF RIFLE – MODS REPAIRS UPGRADES IMPROVEMENTS

LURKER #1’s Converted .22 Condor to .177 50 yard Target Shooter/Quiet YardWork Sniper. As of May 2013.

SETUP INCLUDING 23+ MODS + other noteables.
1) DIY CONDOR Frame Ported between Barrel Bushings 5 x 1/32″ holes.
2) Front Bushing: Replaced my DIY Vented Bushing that worked good but looked bad with a pretty TalonTunes Vented Bushing by Tony.
3) SUBSONIC’s original prototype MODERATOR works good indoors and with my quiet 1200 PSI yard defender.
4) SUBSONIC’S SS HP PELLET BREECH KNOB.
5) Safety that failed, fired rifle when released twice, has been DIY SAFELY REMOVED – much safer by just uncocking the hammer. Several contributed but I can’t remember where I first read about this ❓
6) “JFK” TriggerGard AR-15 Grip Adapter by “JFK”. I’m told there were only 3 prototypes made and are unobtainable. WOK’s is the best made today ❗ I shimmed the Sideframe on both sides for snug fit per conversation with RiffRaff. Now it feels like one solid rod with no movement or flex.
7) Hoag Grip AR-15 finger groove type.
8) DIY Trigger Seer Knotched for deeper latch with or without safety removed.
9) TT Trigger Shoe. DIY mounted low so it contacts the TriggerGard frame upon hammer release with minimal overtravel. Maybe not my best idea but to much extra travel felt mushy to me.
10) Installed 2 Trigger Adjustment Grub Screws.
11) Full Threaded Tank Collar from England, from “dave_424” because AF tank didn’t have much hold.
12) ETaC with Tank Drop & Can’t including PSI Gauge & Male Foster Quick Connect by “Marmot_Militia”. 1 1/2″ added LOP (length of pull) butt to trigger.
13) TT 12″ .177 Upgraded Barrel with Polished Bore + Hammer/Breech OD area.
14) My DIY Ported & Polished AF Valve Stem. DIY’d my 1st one too much and it eventually bent after a lot of use 😆
15) My DIY Polished Valve Seat.
16) O-Ring added behind Valve Stem Top Hat mostly from “powderburner”, Lower Air Useage, & Lower SD, also it helps lessen tank ping.
17) WOK BUTT -by WOK. I like the strap on however, to even out LOP with my new .25 Condor I Changed it to WOK’s Clamp On. Since It added 1/2″.LOP, I moved the scope back to compensate and again, even up the two rifles.
18 & 19) SCOPE: Had bent and straightened my OEM AF 4-16×50, replaced with Hawke Sidewinder Tactical 8.5-24×40 on B-Square mount that I just moved to the .25 & replaced with Hawke Nite-Eye Digital 4-16×50 on high Weaver Quick Latch Rings on B-Square 11mm to Weaver Adjustable Drop Base.
20) Red Laser with Remote Switch. Switch held in place by stick on Velcro and cable held in place by One-Wrap Velcro.
21) 1600 lumen LED Lithium Ion Flashlight on scope rings to 11mm. Inspired by CygnusX
22) Remington Padded Adjustable Sling with 1 1/4 Twist to wrap around left forearm & elbow for triangular hold. My DIY ring to mount to the hole at rear of trigger cover plate.
23) 2x Printed Pellet Dispensers by “Fairlyinconspicuous”

OTHER REPAIRS/MODS
A) REMOVED heavy burrs in breech bolt slide area of frame with a flat rifle file.
B) Polished Inside of Frame slightly.
C) Blue LocTite used on TH grub screws, Tank Collar screws, Forend Grip screw.
D) Black Permanent Marker used to touch up powder coat 😆 Cheap Son of a Gun ❗

RiffRaff,

Your level looks so solid it makes me wonder why AF hasn’t copied it yet ❓

I’ve had a time trying to shoot more than 50 yards without it looking like a shotgun pattern. So I’m trying different ways to set things up. Neither rifle is hitting paper at 100 now that I switched scopes. I wonder what that would have to do with anything 😆

Also I have to much going on. Damn windshield on the RV developed a crach from where I had a stone hit repaired 4-5 years ago. My kid is getting ready to move again. Last time of cost me twice. She didn’t need the truck right away and spent the money for other things then in a panic she had to get the last load as they took over her repo’d home of 11 years. I can’t say no because through a rotten divorce and her mother violating true courts and moving a long ways away, my daughter did all she could to keep in touch. Oh well, if only she would move closer than 35 miles. it whole make things easier and less expensive.

so much for trying to get to the range. 10 degrees below average temps, much windier and rainier than normal here. Today was breezy but nice however the lawn needed mowed.

I built my own gunlevel.

Lathed a bit of aluminum into a tube that the bubble insert fits into, and then bolted it to the scope rail.
Then used a carpenter level and drew a vertical line on my target.

Gun leveled, crosshairs aligned with 90° line, tightened screws. Simple.

I have no change in POI from that vertical line at any range, so I must have done it right.

Heres a pic of my level. The BKL model shown is the last of 3 I bought. All of them leaked fluid in just a few months.
So far my new one is holding perfectly.

My bore to cross hair is now 3″. The frame levels weren’t that good IMO.

Before I put two levels on the frame and they weren’t consistent. But I used them and lined the scope with the plumb line at 30 feet. I even turned the levels around and still the same. Oh, and that was with a b-square multi adjustment one piece mount. I had it screwed up. Now I think it’s better on my .25.

This time I feel confident except, I have to refine the drop adjustment after shooting the .177 a bit.

In the process I found the top hat loose. Thought I had lock tite on it but is missing one grub screw.
Are you able to enlarge the pictures easily or should I try to post larger sizes ❓

Tomorrow I’ll post a couple pictures with all the hardware re-mounted.

Frankly, I’m surprised to get a reply 😆

I skipped breakfast to finish plumbing the new scope on new Weaver rings, and new B-Square adjustable drop 11mm to Weaver scope mount. Darn, to plumb it good I had to drop the grips, the JFK trigger gard, remove grub screws and the E-TaC with tank, then hang a plumb line off top dead center of the eye piece. Eyeballed from the muzzle to get the plumb line centered. Bore sighted a car license plate at about 100 yards, re-checked plumb through the muzzle, carefully aligned and tightened the mount and scope and re-checked bore alignment and scope plumb. Actuall X 22 to get it right. I was going to ask if there is an easy way to do this but…….
