Q:

Just placed my order!

Put a downpayment on it a while ago, and just finished paying it off. One month and I will be able to play with it. Going on the .300wm barrel of the blaser lrs2, which will give the .223 barrel my leupold 6.5-20 (the one in my signature).

Woohoo!

Good to see your priorities are set straight

Thanks for the review, thats a sweet ass scope.

I can see that the premier is a little more clear than the mark 4 when I look at the mound and the skyline. Thats a nice range too!!$20 bucks a day!!!!oh shit! My closest range is $18 an hour if your a non memberand its an indoor 50 yard range.

What x power were they on in the pics? I dont get to shoot at 700 yards . 🙁

It looks a little clearer in the pictures, but in person it blows it away. Details are much clearer. Both of them work, but they are definitely worlds apart. That is on 25x on the premier and 20x on the leupold.

Quality glass is huge. I’m getting worse and worse. I think it’s time to start shopping for something a little better for the .223 barrel. A premier 3-15 maybe? 😀

And saw, settling down is way way off for me, so I am going to buy all of my toys over the next few years, and make them good toys so they will last if I do settle down. 😆

Just make sure you do all your scope and gun buying
before you decide to settle down and have a family💰💰💰💰💰💰💰
Nice glass my boy, Im jealous
Nice glass is like seeing high def
I bought an ACOG of 80 Grit a while back
put it on my Sig 516
Man, simply amazing, some day, Im gonna step up
and get some quality glass for my 308/700
Good glass makes all the difference
My Nikko Ster are OK, but very finicky to get proper
sight picture, they work fine however a good scope
like yours would be much better
By the way, whats the eye relief on that bad boy?

Oh man that ain’t bad at all.

Thanks guys. Beene, that range is awesome, never seen anything like it. 50-100 yards has paper targets, 250 is paper an steel, then 500, 750, and 1000 is all steel. Very cool. Not to mention they have a skeet range, a pistol range, and 6 tactical bays that you set up your own targets and can practice moving and shooting or whatever you want. It is very very cool, and really not bad cost of shooting, I only do the long range rifle and it’s $20 for all day. I like it there. 😀

WOK, yep, did get to talk to ol’ Mike. It sounds like he needs to get out, maybe I can trick him into it sometime. 😉

Thats a nice scope!

I heard you got to chat with Mike?

Take that man shooting he needs to get out of the house 😀

Nice scope and nice range!

Thanks for the review and the pictures. These types of reviews should be made by everybody for every scope possible so a newcomer should know what to invest in.

Awesome scope. You are a lucky man and you should be very proud and happy.

Hey guys! Life’s been a bit busy getting to the new base and stuff, and I had a small issue with my stuff coming from korea, but I’m back up now, and figured I’d let you know how my new toy is. 🙂

It’s awesome. Really not much else to say about it. I have used leupold for a while, they are good scopes, never gave me a problem and have good glass. I like the way they work, like I said, no complaints at all. But this thing has completely blown that out of the water. Everything from glass to adjustments is so far beyond it’s unbelievable.

I will say, having it now, if you aren’t shooting long range it’s not nearly as necessary. Back home I only have 200 yards to shoot. You can tell it’s clearer, and you can tell it’s made better, but is it enough to be worth the couple grand price difference, not really. However, out here we have a 1000 yard range. All of a sudden it becomes apparent what you pay for. Adjusting out is easy, and you never have to worry about how precise the clicks are, because they are dead on. I can hit the silhouettes at 750 yards first shot every time with it. 1000 yards usually takes me 2, but that is my fault and my inability to read wind, the scope performs flawlessly. And it is so much clearer than the leupold. The best way I can describe it is that the leupold is clear, but it is like looking through a tube. The premier gives the impression that you are simply standing closer.

Took a few pictures. It’s a camera phone, so obviously it’s not doing justice to either scope, so you’ll just have to take my word that the premier is much clearer. 🙂

Premier first:

This is the range:

750 yards:

1000 yards

And the leupold:

750

1000

If I had to find a negative, it is big and heavy. Doesn’t do much for me since I don’t carry my rifle a lot, but that could be an issue. It is heavy enough that I had to loctite the scope mount screws down because the momentum kept loosening them, but that fixed the problem. The zero reset things are a little weird, I’m used to unscrewing a screw and adjusting that way. These you flip up and spin the knob back down, but it still clicks while you do that. Not bad, just strange.

The age old question, is it worth it. It is a $3500 scope, and most people cringe at the idea of spending that kind of money on a rifle, much less a scope. I doubt it’s worth the extra money over something like the zeiss and nightforce to many people, those scopes do the job well. But to me it is well worth it, it’s a big step up from what I had, and a noticeable step up from the nightforce scopes. I completely understand why someone wouldn’t want it, but I couldn’t go back now that I have it. 🙂

I see ,Money wasnt an issue so you took the Ferrari over the Cadillac. 😆

So would I.

You are talking about a leupold mark 4 right? You mean why didn’t I pick up a couple of them? 😉

I did look at them, looked at a lot of scopes really. I initially looked at them and nightforce, being the “cheaper” options. Also looked at USO and S&B as the expensive choices. I liked the double turn feature of the expensive scopes, where they used bigger tubes and knobs to get more elevation in 2 turns of the knob than small scopes got in several turns. The glass was an obvious one, the more money the better the glass. Plus the fit and finish gets better as price goes up, things like repeatability of the knobs gets better. Are the increases in quality from mark 4 and nightforce to S&B and premier worth the extra money? Some don’t think so, but I do.

Since I had the money, the Mark 4 and nightforce were weeded out pretty fast. USO wasn’t really doing much for me. My choices came down to premier and S&B, ended up with premier because I liked the illumination knob better, and I heard several reports that the glass was better. Both are pretty much even, just a matter of preference. Basically, I like the way it looks more than the S&B. 😆

Nothing against mark 4 by any means, just not on the level of what I was looking for.

Nice! Well at least you dont really need to buy a scope ever again 😆

Just for shits and giggles , why didnt you pick up a mark 4 instead?

You never know. 😛

I got the gen 2 xr mil dot. Looks like a christmas tree.

Also, just looked at them again, price went up over $300 since I bought it. So woohoo for timing!

Yes…..But its nice to have that option….. 😆
