Kalibr Colibri To buy or not to buy!!
Hi from across the pond, just joined from South Wales in the UK. I am considering buying a Colibri either from Germany or check direct. there are no UK Kalibr dealers at present. I have tried on different air rifle forums and to my knowledge no one as bought a Kalibr Colibri in the UK due to the faults EG Blow back , pellet loading problems which have been investigated on here
My knowledge of tinkering with air rifles are zip! [ American expression just love it !] I would have no UK dealer back up if I imported, so my question is could I rectify these faults myself easily.
I would appreciate your opinions about Colibri as when sorted they seem a nice rifle to shoot, or should I wait for Kalibr next batch of Colibri to be made trouble free hopefully
Thank you all for looking at my thread on you excellent forum which I spend many hours on, Neil

Larry Ole Hoots doing good today as his caretaker Sir Ville is making sure he stays on his meds. Every so often Hoot will hold his meds under his tongue until Ville leaves then spit then out. Todays he’s making sense in his words. He thinks his Daisy BB gun is a Colibri, poor Hoot:
Bloody Hell I love those Toad Suck expressions!!

Tripe! Pure Tripe…I say!!!
The lad has his head straight, and went to the sole world-wide source to obtain near genius advice on his kit, prior to purchasing.
That being said, I own a Colibri and daresay it’s the Queen’s marbles!!! Wouldn’t trade it for two thousand quid.
Push ahead lad…push ahead without fear. It’s a banger piece of kit and every boy on his street should own one.
As for power…it’s a simple matter that even our friend “Dave” could undertake. Complex? Not at all my boy, not at all!
Simply a matter of a slight adjustment of the regulator. Two wrenches and you are off and about. Watch this video and you will be
guaranteed a bang-up job….https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4S4jLJ7tVZg&feature=youtu.be
Having watched the video, perhaps this summary might speed you along your path:
Simply remove the stock with one hex wrench, and there sits the regulator before your very eyes. Being certain to loosen slightly the tiny hex screw embedded
in the nut attached to the small pipe coming from the air cylinder before proceeding. Then, make a straight line, with a permanent marker, across both nuts to show the
original starting point. This ensures a proper return to the original settings without fail. Hold the other nut firmly in place, and give the first nut a slight turn clockwise…an 1/8th of a turn to 1/4th of a turn, and the regulator’s BAR setting will be increased, thus resulting in more joules of output. Now tighten down the tiny hex screw in the nut just turned, to hold it in place, and there you have it. If you wish, a bit of a tweak with a hex wrench at the back of the gun to adjust the hammer tension spring, “in” for more tension, “out” for less tension, if you so desire, but even that is not necessary, unless you want to tweak the Colibir up or down the odd joule or two.
If you get into a spot of confusion, post your problem here, and we’ll get you back on the fairway soon enough…
Kind regards…
Sir Uncle Hoot:
Hi there, I looked seriously at the Kalibr and opted for the Airforce or Gunpower as it is known in UK. I’m really pleased I did. The Kalibr looks to be a great gun but I just love the Airforce guns. They look better in the flesh when the simplicity of their design can be really appreciated. They are also incredibly good value. But I’m not knocking Kalibr, if I had the money I would definitely have one of those as well! I’m in North Wales (Wirral to be precise) if you want more advice on sourcing the right Gunpower let me know.
A few in the uk have colibris or have them on the way your asking on the wrong forums
It´s easy to get upto speed. Have you considered a Cricket Compact ?? It´s even smaller and no issues. Accurate and powerful little bugger.
And welcome to TAG ! :fishinghole:
I owned the cricket and it was a trouble free gun. I had the synthetic stock and it was just too heavy for me.
I bought a hummingbird and really like the light weight and balance…and it is extremely accurate.
Now for the downside of the gun. I’m having blowback and indexing issues. A blast of air to the side of my face is a little unnerving.
I bought the gun from WWAG and Steve and Matt are working hard to resolve these issues. I really like the hummer enough to try and work through the issues.
I was looking for some of Ernest Rowe’s videos concerning repair of these issues but looks like the Youtube videos are no longer available…bummer.
I hope you will eventually be able to purchase a hummer in the UK..in 12 foot pounds…you should be able to get around 70 shots on a fill.
If they get the issues fixed…you’ll love this little bird!
Larry
Larry, I was getting a little blow back when I was using copper coated pellets, but very little with JSBS. Then I took the baffles out and get none. I think the baffles cause to much back pressure. But did you try drilling a hole in the shroud? My accuracy is better w/o the baffles & is still very quiet. See what it does w/o the baffles. I have not had any indexing issues from out of the box. Before I finalized the order for mine Peter, said he fixed that. Not sure what he did, but it works slick. I have put over 1000 pellets thur it so far.
I agree, I miss those videos that was on youtube. 😥
Thank you all for the welcome and your much appreciated opinions, the cricket is a little to heavy for me due to shoulder reconstruction [ ROTATING CUFF INJURY] so thats why I wanted an air rifle which is small and light to shoulder, The Vulcan is a nice looking BP but again hard to source in the UK!! Think I will go and bite the bullet[ LOVE THESE AMERICAN PHRASES} and order one this week . Have e mailed seller and he will fire for me 100 shots to see if there are any issues before he will ship to me, don’t think he can be fairer than that also stating he has only had this batch this week from Kalibr. Will take his word on the above and cant wait to receive Colibri next week. Need to keep and appointment with a few rats at the chicken farm. :winkn: PS HOPE Ernest puts up a few vids on YTmay need them especially about power as they are set at 7 Joules!

Welcome aboard Evenbad. Another thing you may do is watch Ernest Rowe’s youtube videos on the bird. I believe he has some out by now and he has taken care of that blow back problem along with the mag problem.
Welcome sir! I’m sure more experienced “bird” users will chime in, but if you’re not a “tinkerer”, you might want to consider something else. I have a couple crickets and really have enjoyed trouble free shooting with them. For you, I’m thinking you might want to wait a bit or depending on caliber you are wanting, maybe try the new Vulcan. That’s the one I’m considering for myself depending on the first reviews as they come out.
Again, welcome and enjoy the addiction!
