Q:

Kalibrgun Colibri MK2

Ever since I saw the first Colibris I fell in love. The muzzle report, the unique design and the forward cocking bolt. Even though I knew there were problems with it, I still wanted one.
Now there is a bit of chatter that a MK2 might be released at SHOT show.
What do you guys think about it?
All I know is I am saving my pennies to buy it!

I hope it’s a semi auto be pretty bad ass :8:

As long as it is reliable, consistent and tested propperly before it is released. If the semi auto system doesnt work flawlessly, ditch it.
The first colibri had enough brilliant feutures to make it sell. :8:

If FX can produce 2 semi auto rifles then Kalibrgun should be able to somehow. Would be really cool with a super quiet semi auto bullpup wouldn’t it 😎

Thanks for the info everyone. I’ve read the rumor about Evegny owning some of the patent rights on the Colibri. Did he bring those patents to Kalibrgun or develop them while there? I know this is an international forum, so perhaps some of our European members can chime in. In the USA, normally any patents obtained while working for a company belong to the company and not the individual(s) who created them.

Perhaps they are renaming the Colibri the Phoenix; from hummingbird to the mythical bird arising from the ashes of its destruction. πŸ™‚

Ooh yeeeaahhh. Well, to me it doesnt really matter what format (semi-auto or normal) it comes in, I just want one of those beuties. Thanks for the update guys, lets see where this goes. πŸ˜† πŸ˜†

You will never see the short one produced. According to Marek from Kalibrgun, those were prototypes only. There were 5 produced and never sold to anyone. Any Colibri you see will look like the current ones. I am not too confident that Kalibrgun is going to bring it in semi auto. That is not what Marek told me. Until the SHOT they were not really considering even offering the Colibri again.

I will tell you guys exactly what Marek said. I told him we want the Colibri back. He said “why”. I told him all the reasons. I said that Ed was coming out with a R4 and if they want to compete then Kalibrgun better offer something besides the Cricket. Marek said “who told you Ed was making a new gun?” I replied “Ed did”. Marek paused, and then he said this…”we think we will bring back the Colibri in the summer but I don’t think it will be ready for IWA, we may introduce a NEW semi auto we have been working on, then offer the Colibri in the summer time. “It depends on which gun is ready”. “We do not want to make the same mistake again with the new Colibri”

My take away was Kalibrgun is working on a semi auto but Marek made it seem like it was something new, not the Colibri. Of course things change so I cannot answer definitely what Kalibrgun will do. I will tell you that when Peter from TGAG left the Kalibrgun booth the Colibri was a no. Peter had told Kalibrgun that he had a ton of requests. Then myself and Matt from South Africa harassed Marek and then Kalibrgun changed their story. Maybe they had plans all along to make the Colibri again but the whole exchange between Peter, Kalibrgun, and myself makes me feel less confident that the Colibri will be a semi auto. According to Ernest, the Colibri looks like a repeater that was attempted to be made in a semi auto, not a semi auto gun modified into a repeater.

The guys on the bullpup mad forum have the feeling that Evgeny Pigrov has some claim to the Colibri.

Here he is with the Colibri

Not overly concerned with the semi-auto version, as these things cycle very fast as they are now……rather have the Shorty version as shown on the Russian channels…. Would definitely get one…

Don’t hold your breath man. It might be years away otherwise guys in Prague would already be raving about it. But I hope I’m wrong and it’s available real soon :smilen:

ThatΒ΄s great news for people who intended buy a colibri. If all will work well it will be great competitive to vulcan :fishing:

I’ll be there tomorrow. One of the first things I plan on doing. I just got what I think may be bad news regarding the Colibri but I’m going to wait to report on it until after I go to Kalibergun.

….waiting to hear the info .. I had a h/bird that didn’t cycle, sold it..

Great news, Keyser; thanks. Looking forward to your report as well as a report on how the conversation goes with Ted.

Thanks for the update Keyser. I really want to see a improved Colibri, but if Kalibrgun dont perform then the Vulcan looks like mighty fine alternative. :8:
