Q:

Kinda frustrated; could someone please help?

Hi I was just about to order a carbin fiber tank from a guy that was initially slated to be around $235, then at the last minute he mentioned that I’d need a $129 hose for it to work with my air gun I’m going to get (condor).

I guess I need some explanation from either someone, or could someone send me a link to some instructions etc, on the easiest and cheapest way to hook my gun up to a tank. I’ve also found locally a decent deal on a regular 3000psi used scuba tank for $75 so that’s an option also, although I would much prefer the fiber tank the guy was selling (it’s about 12 pounds!), but I just can’t afford to pay as much in scuba gear as the gun itself (I totalled up the fittings he said I’d need, the $129 hose et. al. and it was like $500!).

Can someone shed some light for me here? Should I just go the cheap route of using the scuba tank for $75? If so what’s the least adapater stuff I’d need – and would I also need the $129 hose for that? Thanks

Everyone can learn an important lesson from this thread. Forum talk doesnt always get interpreted as the writer intended.

Without being in the same room as one another, it is sometimes very difficult to get it right without being able to see the body language and facial expressions that go along with normal conversation.

Just my .02

Ronald, you are not the only “amateur” on this forum. There are a lot of us here. You’d be smart not to kick people in the face. These people have been around a long time, you can only benefit from their knowledge and experience. Walk lightly my friend.

Here! Here! Now that all that is over, Man, I wish I could get a carbon tank filled here. I’m getting way too few decent fills!

Ronald….I think you’ll find that Voltar1 is anything but an AH. It is well known that he possesses a wealth of accurate, tried and true information. Like Rob3dr, when Voltar1 speaks people listen. There is a reason for that. These guys have the experience and knowledge that we ALL benefit from and best all of they gladly share it with us for free.

We have a real cast of characters here and it is more like a Monty Python the anything…..So hang tuff and give them a good insult with a picutre…..

Here I will help you out. This is for Voltar.

Thanks… I appreciate it.

Excuse my french, but voltar is an asshole.

Dirty harry, no worries man we’re clear… and thanks so much for the info, like the guy at airhog said when i told him I was new to all this he said “Airgunner has a decent learning curve” I guess those who are over that curve forget that there’s a lot more to this than there is with firearms where you drop in a bullet and you’re done…

Thanks Akula but I actually really like DH and find his take on things pretty good.

I do have a problem with guys that ask questions then spit on good answers. They keep asking until they get the answer they want in the first place. Truly a waste of everyones time.
Wish I had remembered the guy with his bogus posts earlier and I would have refrained from giving advice.
Got sucked in …… again……

My skin is actually tough and gets tougher the older I get.
Thanks Adam for the solution eh 🙂

Well I got Sports Chalet to fill my 80 ali to 3100 psi, and a divers shop will do it to 3200. But I’ll say it again, if I knew then what I know now I would have saved the money from this tank and just went with a CF 4500, there’s no doubt about it.

WOW, What a hoser, eh?

Wow… I find that remark to be pretty rude…

voltar answered a bunch of questions I did NOT ask on this thread; not even sure where they came from unless he just wants to bang on a newbie to make himself look good, and I’m certainly not sure what’s going on with the condescending attitude.

What this thread is about, is the FITTINGS around carbon fiber tanks vs steal tanks, and what kinds of hoses I need to get (because apparently I need one set of hoses and fittings on cf and another set on aluminum/steel; I didn’t know that).

If this is the kind of response I get when asking questions about fittings and connections/hoses on an airtank I just won’t ask them in the future.

Thanks to everyone else who was nice enough to respond kindly…

Get over yourself.

the advice I gave is first off accurate, second it is correct, third it was a waste of my time.

Do what ever you want to do it is no skin off my back.

BTW how old are you?

Walter….

Ronald….Adam is correct. I meant no harm. I am posting pictures of the two options available to you. The parts are not interchangable. I realize that CF tanks cost far more money, but over the course of time the ease of use and overall practicality cannot be beat.

Regards,

Harry

What some of our cast of characters tend to forget is some people can not afford a Carbon Fiber set up or find a place to fill it. So a scuba tank or a pump is the only solution.

So while the CF might be ideal it also may be impossible. And saying it over and over again still does not make it possible for some people to use.

Do what I say….Damit!

Sorry you had to put up with that kind of attitude and B.S. I was only offering my personal opinion and in no way expect others to agree with or endorse my advice. I hope you enjoy your Condor to the fullest no matter what route you take.
