Q:

Laser Genetics Nd3 or Gen 1 scope

As the title states, I am finally set up in a area that has an abundance of night time targets. Possums, raccoons, rabbits, rats and feral cats.

I’m looking to get a night time set up on my marauder but the nd3 has mixed reviews online and if it is going to be crap quality might as well get a gen 1 scope.

Any recommendations either way?

I do like a Gen 1 way more then lamping. I wish had dumped ny lamp years before i did. The only thing with Gen 1 is you have to get a good one and you want a nice big ir lamp to illuminate things. Good gen 2 is much Much MUCH better though. I am not a fan of digi scopes. The N550 are ok and in some ways better then Gen 1. But I still think a good Gen 2 will blow one out the water. It tends to be you get what you pay for.

Sounds like you are going to have some serious fun. Night time pesting is way too fun (though it can mess up your sleep schedule).

I haven’t used the ND3 or gen 1 scopes, but have been using the Pulsar Digisight N550 for a little over a year now. I’ve been happy with the scope. I think there is now N750 Pulsar scope. Supposedly, the Digisights are comparable to generation 2 scopes. The great thing about the Pulsar digital scopes is that you can use them in the daytime too. The downside of theses scopes is the price though.

If you get the gen 1 scope, I’ve heard that it may help to add outdoor IR lights to the bait station.

It’s long. But there’s some interesting info in there (especially posts by 6mm06).
