Last resort…Regulator
Like others, I grow frustrated with this gun, I see shades of 30 shot greatness and perfection with this gun, Then it goes away the next day.
My last resort…a Jim Gaska/JDS etac/reg setup..
Here is a 50 shot string.
I’m not trying for a 100 shot count. I’m sure with a little tweaking and a lower fps one could get 60-70 shots easy.
I wanted 30-40 shots pushing a 27.8gr .25cal pellet at 900fps. I missed the mark a little bit here, I ordered the 2100psi version of the JDS reg.
I’m getting around 850fps, I think I should have went with the 2300psi one. This is no problem, JDS regs use Belleville Spring washers, just like most paintball tanks. So, its easy to change.
Anyhow it looks to me like the JDS has a little problem with that 3000psi fill, the first 5 shots are a little low…so I will only fill to 2900, and get a real nice average of about 850fps, and stop shooting at 2200..so 40 shots.
The numbers would be much better with out the 1st and last 5 shots.
I’m just going to leave it as is for now and see how it shoots..I have never shot at 850fps before, we shall see how it goes.

No you are fine. I modify the etac-regs with larger chambers.

I have them made out of 1018 so I can weld on them. I’m trying to figure out how to make them in 2 pieces and they screw together. If you search, one of Jim’s reg threads he has a chart posted of different barrels with different reg pressures and fps. 18″ barrel is hurting you also. I have 24″

Background info.
Tss, TT high-flow, 2 pc hammer 20+45( condor setup), 18″ .25 barrel.
Before the reg setup, the gun only had the 45gr hammer in it, and the tank was filled to 2000psi, pw=6 and was shooting right around 900fps.
So, I ordered the 2100psi reg setup. I figured the reg setup adds a little overhead to the psi needed.
I had to put the 20gr hammer weight back in and run pw up to 6 again, to get about 850fps.
( I only get 134 shots on a 1500 psi reg with .25 JSB’s, 907 avg a SD of 2, 965 fps with 1800 psi reg.)
Those are some pretty darn great numbers, 24″ barrels I would guess, maybe my 18″ is hurting power more than I figured.
I threw 2400psi at mine and your doing it with only 1500/1800 psi.
Maybe I’m going in the wrong direction with more psi, maybe less.., a turn out with the valve spring…ect

After messing with it, testing it, measuring it, stroking it and poking it..its now at 2400psi.
However, my fps only went up by 15fps, I figure it must be somehow related to the volume of air as well.
Now this would cut down my shot count by 20 shots.;..so not worth the crummy 15 or so fps gain.
Back to stock setup..

Ok at least you didnt just add a washer. It also matters which way you put the washer in. If you want it clocked and changed so fill nipple and guage are set up like in the pic let me know. Also will set pressure for you. My guage is + – .025%. Just pay shipping both ways.
Mrnewbie, what length is your barrel? if it is a 12 incher, you are going to be hard pressed to hit 950fps, I have two different ones and one peaks out around 920 fps and the other one around 945., and that is with 95gr hammers and modified Hi-Flo valves. The trick to higher Fps is a longer barrel.
There may be some kinda limit as you suggested..I agree, I just don’t know enough about it, but have done several paintball tanks. Most took 2-3 attempt to get em right.
The rule of thumb is every belleville washer adds 200-250psi
Every thin spacer flat washer ads 50psi.
I took out 2 spacers(100psi), replaced with a belleville 200-250psi..
So, I should be a little higher.
Whatever it ends up at, is where it stays, I’m done messing with it.
The point is, the reg’ed setup is an upgrade
Jim does test them now, as he told me he was out of air, and would not ship for a few days untill he had more air to test with..
Sorry it doesn’t work that way. Shim stack is a certain height and must stay close to what it is, right around .860″ measured from the end to the top of the shim stack. Add to much and your on tank pressure. They are real touchy and you might do the smallest change and end up with a 500 psi change. I got my first 3 from Jim and sent 2 back and they still were off. He just sells the JDS regs. Maybe he does check them now? The gauge is on the tank side and has nothing to do with the reg. Only way to check it is after the shim stack. Jim has the regs in stock..
I’m sure he hooks them up to the etac..and test them and checks and /or sets the pressure for you. In fact i’m positive he does.
My was dead nuts on, 2100 psi.
As I fill the tank with the shoebox, you can see a little wobble/needle bounce when it hits 2100psi..you can see it.
Regardless, I popped that puppy open tonight an added another bellville washer…so I should now be at 2300psi or close.
My goal is 900fps with the 25-27.8gr pellet, I don’t really care what the reg is at..2200 or 2400 is just fine.
I did quite a lot of shooting in the past few days at 850fps, and I must say, it is a MAJOR improvement. Groups are better, no more 2″ high or low shots..down to 1/2″ on the up/down…for 40+ shots, much better.

It is not that hard to change the setting of the reg. It takes time and a setup to check the pressure of the reg. I have done it a few times. First time I went through a tank of air. I have found that JDS regs don’t seem to come as you want them. The last one I ordered was a 1600 and it was 2100 when I tested it. Out of the 4 I have only one was set to the actual pressure I ordered. You need to check it. It could be set at 2500 psi
I have always wanted to try a reg, looks like it work great for you. On here some where I seen a post that tells you how to stack the springs to change the pressure settings.
That is a pretty good shot count also. If you change your reg to 2300 how about a report on how hard it is to do and let us know how it shoots.
Jim is a nice guy,talked to him for a while, I ordered a setup for my talon, etac reg and 13ci bottle. he sounds really busy.

I have a 19″ .25 barrel. I use a 2500psi reg and that shoots Kings at 910fps over about 45 shots.(Using a 53cui tank)
