Latest Mrod Pistol Video From Crosman

IMHO the Talon SS is a better choice if you’re going to be using the shoulder stock.

yours looks like the units Muzzle mack carries on his website with the built in power adjuster
not a fan of power adjusters either
set the guns up right and leave them alone
yes its the most compact adapter I have found as yet

now as to the cost on the Breech its around a C note with one mag and another Jackson to fit the barrel to the breech plus a five spot on the left hand option
I can take quite a bit of the credit for convincing Jay to do these in left hand and was the one who suggested he retool and do them also in .25 and also for the Discovery as to me it was a total no brainer given the tube diameter and breech length being similar

myself I would hunt up a used up QB78, {usually can be had around $50.00 or less} and use it as the donor
QB barrels by far and large tend to be of better quality then the run of the mill Crosman, particularly the older ones
to use a Crosman grip frame requires relocating the rear screw on the tube then grinding flats on the bottom of the striker guide assembly
so for well under $200.00 one can build a repeater CO2 pistol, add maybe abit over a hundred to go PCP
not too bad eh’? 😉
here is a custom build QB pistol off the chinese forum:

Riverside,

I got that from Charles Melen, I have no idea who made it first though.

That is a very compact package there.

How much is that reciever and mag set up costing you and is he willing to make more?

First though, I got to get a shoebox compressor.

Roachcreek

usually leave them out if I have a custom tube done, don’t see much sence to them particularly on a pistol once you establish a shot count over the chrony
that one uses a bobbed Discovery tube so had to plug the hole somehow…it was either that or a regulator
for me gauges are just one more thing to fail, just one more point for leaks to occur. I do love them on the ETACs but outside of that I am not a huge fan of them

RC: Your muzzle mack stock adapter got me thinking/digging
found a real sweet adapter I just ordered:

these are a great deal more compact than the Muzzle Mack units and use the Tokyo Maru Airsoft stocks and are like 49.00
I see a sidefolder going on my QB pistol

And a pressure gauge too!!

That was my point, for the most part I won’t throw good money after bad buying current Crosman trash…

Now on your Mountain Air pistol, thats a damn poor comparison to an off the shelf 2250 as Roy spends quite a bit of time making Crosman trash perform even on his most basic guns
there is barrel work done, valve work, trigger work, ect…
I have one of his bulk fill 2550s with the Lothar Walther barrel, impressive as heck but an equaly poor example to use to claim Crosman bits perform “as well as any out there”…particularly when the bill on this same gun is well over $400.00 with all of Roys bells and whistles
Heck using that logic you can claim a Chrome plated Raven .25 performs as well as any pistol Ever made simply because it goes bang when you pull the trigger.

The reality is that is what current Crosman products are…the Saturday Night Specials of airgunning.
you can attempt to fashion a silk handbag from a sows ear but in the end its still just a pig skin purse.

Am I stating in any way the basic designs are totally flawed?
nope…just the execution

consider the new Crosman PCP pistols
for the money they want for them its not hard at all to go totally custom and end up with twice the gun for the same price
hell for $54.99 on a 22XX you have the total trash plastic breech gun suitable for practically nothing except a donor gun
Roys 2250B is over $200.00
even his 2240 is $175.00
for that money with scrounging you can build a Discovery pistol albeit with mostly Crosman bits that will require some time to clean up
QBs are in the same boat as are to a far lesser extent Air Force rifles
to each his own but I see no economy in replacing, even having to modify and clean up a third or more of the components of a gun to make it half way decent
rather just purchase the custom bits and the little I might need after to complete it from Crosman or stripped from a second hand junker. 😉

this is as bad as the characters on the Yellow who claim the Marauder is the greatest rifle ever built but admit their gun was one purchased pre tuned by Tim at MAC1
apples and oranges
Here is my MA2550

Here is a budget Discovery based .22…maybe $250.00 in it outside my time

Riverside–the fact that you chose to use non-Crosman parts in your builds was your decision…..it doesn’t change the fact that Crosman parts are readily available, less expensive in most cases, and will perform just as well as just about anything out there !!!!!
As an example—I have a Crosman 2250 B built by Mountain Air..grip frame, barrel, tube, valve, trigger, breech…ALL Crosman….and a VERY nice air gun. I’ve shot probably 6K-7K pellets through it since January..it has Never developed a leak, broken a part, failed to operate, given me any trouble, or had to be dis-assembled for ANY reason 😀 😀 😀
I read about so many guys talking how bad Crosman stuff is, cheaply made, etc, etc, etc……so ya just use 1 or 2 parts from a 22XX and then buy all high-dollar, status-symbol-stainless-steel parts, and then claim Crosman stuff as being “cheap”, second rate, etc…Just not true– ya hafta accept the fact that if you buy a $54.99 2240, you will NOT get a true two-stage competition target trigger with an LW barrel .The gun in stock form will provide you with big time fun, accuracy, practiaclity, etc..
But if you decide to up-grade to all the high dollar, look at what I just got, stuff !! That’s on you-NOT on Crosman…sorry for the rant, but jeeeez dude..if Crosman stuff is so undesirable, JUST DON’T BUY ANY MORE OF IT 💡 💡 💡

NICE!!

after about 7 builds I learned the economic falicy of upgrading Crosman products
for example there is hardly one Crosman made part on my last couple of builds

the problem with the pistol is how many shots will be in the sweet spot?
on the .25 there are around 18 shots per fill with only 8 in the sweet spot and the pistol will be far more limited
frankly of all the sub carbine builds I have so far done the only really practical one has been this custom AR6 as it is very quiet, accurate and extremely powerful but its sweet spot is really only 7 shots on a 3K charge
single action pull is very light & crisp
despite its rather horrid Double action pull I can still dump a six round mag in under 2 seconds
try that with your clumsy bolt action repeaters 😉
hard for me to get too worked up about the Marauder pistol

RC: one thing to remember about the new JRW breech is that it does use the standard 10 shot rifle magazine where the Crosman pistol is using a new 8 shot mag. No word on whether the mags are interchangable. If not, I suspect there will be initial shortages on spare 8 round mags just as there were on the .25 mags.
JRW is as well tooling this breech up for .25 and after that the Discovery/22XX tube
gives one a great many options over the Marauder pistol

Exzactly, Airforce really needs to do something to compete with the other models a big bore would be nice.

It does not matter whether it has a 8 shot or a 10 shot mag, the fact is it has a mag.

As I write this, I have 6 long guns leaning against the wall, three AF rifles: a Condor, a TSS, and a Talon converted to shoot arrows, a 60 year old “New” Crosman 101, a 98 year old BSA Mdl D and a 2240 carbine. I would own more, but I have only been in this game for 13 months now.

I shoot them all, the choice between them is which one I shoot next and they all fill a nitch, the next nitch to be filled for me is a powerful pistol carbine that is a repeater. After that the nicht will be a big bore of some form.

With the exception of the arrow shooter, which is the deadlist of them all, the power range goes from 450 thru 1150 with 18 grain exacts, all of course are single shots.

The point is, we do not have to narrow our ownership to one model, this is America, we can own what we want. And yes I do feel your pain if you live in Brittian or one of her former colony’s.

The MRod pistol, which is heavy and has a reduced shot count compared to the MRod rifle, will sell better than the hugely successful MRod rifle, it will spawn a entire industry of custom parts like the 2240 has, and AF who has refused to be inovative will be forced a little further down the food chain.

Roachcreek

Pyramyd is now advertising the free co2 adapter with the airforce line again.

That makes the TSS an even better value.

Notice that the Mrod pistol only has an 8 shot clip while the mrod rifle has a 10 round clip. My guess is the pistol only gets 16 good shots.

That breech and magazine that Riverside posted a picture of, he is having it made, looks like a better option. For about the same money, you get your gun like you want it and without the Crosman junk parts.

I have a shelf full of cast off Crosmanplastic breeches and cheape bolts, 7.5 barrels, well I guess I sent the barrels to Subssonnic, but lot of parts I no longer need that I took off their gun to get basically the grip frame, tube and valve.

And the tube and valve are questionable, right 80 Grit. I can’t imagine the parts you have laying arund 80. 😆

Roachcreek

I always suspected it was a little “heavy” for a “pistol”. Now that Crosman has included a shoulder stock with deal, I kind of think my suspicion wasn’t that far off. All in all it looks like it will be a good set up, but it is still a little expensive.

quote Hoot:

Did Mrod ever post the number of shots per fill?

Hoot

Does it matter?
The only numbers worth looking at are those from the end user.

Did Mrod ever post the number of shots per fill?
