Lathe Handle’s
I recently got the Seig DRO for the Mini-Lathe, but when I installed them I found that I couldnt get the handle’s how I wanted. They are just attached with locking nut’s. So there was either too much friction against the leadscrew for the lead screw to turn. Or not enough to keep the handle’s from spinning freely on the screw. There are also no thrust bearing’s so I wanted a way to take out the slack which I couldnt do because the handle screw was also responsible for that.
After having an unusable lathe for the last couple of months I finally decided to make new handle’s.

Used my CNC to drill the holes the right size and position

Milled a flat on each leadscrew

Then put it all together

They dont look as nice as the original handles, but they stay put due to a set screw pressing on the flats and I can now use the bolt at the end to just tighten out the slack.
