Lathe turned pellets?

I read last night about a couple of types of lathe turned pellets that “no one knew about”.. have any of you ever used any and what were the results? thanks!

I could see making some to use to make a mold ).

I suspect that nobody knows about them because nobody makes more than a couple before they realize what a pain it is!

If you used a hard alloy you could make a nice pellet on a lathe but it would be about the most inefficient way to amke ammo you could think of. I doubt even the most addicted among us would make more than one batch! Yeah, somebody would make more than one batch but the work would be tremendous.

For pellets made out of pure or almost pure lead, the machining would be even tougher. The soft lead acts like goop and smears instead of cutting away cleanly. I’ve drilled out some slugs to amke hollow points and while they looked ok from a distance, when you looked close or magnified them, it looked like they had been hollowed out with a dull spoon.
