LDC question
I’m wondering how the tube part of an ldc is made. I’ve read some good stuff on the internals posted here, but haven’t seen anything about the tube itself. If it starts with a piece of, e.g., aluminum tubing, how is the end cap made? If it is a screw-on type, how is that accomplished? In other words, how do you finish the 2 ends? In part, I’m just curious. But on a practical level, I have an AA s410 and a gladiator. Both have ldc’s, but they don’t have internals – which I would like to remedy. Any ideas for a non-machinist?

Well Riff, I wrote a nice eloquent reply and it disappeared when I hit post – probably end up on a cooking forum somewhere. Anyway, I didn’t know that the factory shroud had baffles but I’ll take your word for it. I just want it quieter now that I have a baffled SS and know what quiet is. Even if building a LDC is something I can’t or shouldn’t do, I’d still like to know how they’re put together…its just interesting.
