leaking burst plug
A friend of mine contacted me and asked me if i could fix his valve as it was leaking, he did say he had tried to fix it himself but couldn’t get the burst plug out, so i told him to fetch it round and i would have a look, as you can see from the pictures there is a bit more than a burst plug to fix, i had to take all the parts off the body, clean up the body, re-black it, fit some new parts, he seemed to be quite pleased with the end results, i asked him to please not try and fix it himself again, he seemed to think this was a good idea.

Just out of intrest, what is the blacking method that you use and what kind of start up cost is it?
Or do you get it done by a company etc.

I do the blacking myself its easy to do all you need is to get hold of some of the blacking salts mix with water and boil the parts in the solution.
the process is make a part, clean it, rinse it in clean water, boil it in the salts , rinse it in clean water, put the part in de-watering oil, i use something called duck oil, WD40 will get rid of the water of the part
