Leaking CO2 Adaptor

I need advice. I have a new Airforce Adaptor and have mounted it to a paintball cylinder that holds 3000 psi (48 cu) with regulator and handy gauge. I left the adaptor attached to the cylinder with 1000 lbs of air and stored my rifle in my aluminum case with the cylinder/adaptor detached from the rifle. After several days I went to shoot again and found that my tank was empty. I took it to the local fill station, removed the adaptor and had them fill to 3000 psi and check the tank for leaks. No leaks. They did not test the adaptor but advised me to detach it from the cylinder when not in use. I put a new O ring on tank with thin layer of divers silicone (I put thin coat of divers silicone on new adaptor O rings as well before I first attached it to the cylinder.

When I attached the CO2 adaptor to the fully charged cylinder I noticed a very, very faint leak coming from the adaptor top hat exhaust hole. I fired about 100 rounds then removed the adaptor from the bottle. Tank gauge needle is holding steady. Gauge now reads about 2500 psi after approximately 100 shots. I have no chrony so do not know if my (used) paintball regulator is set to the low (450 psi) or the high range (850 psi). Do I have a faulty CO2 adaptor or are they not made to hold hpa? Is there an adjustment I can make that will stop the leak?
