Leapers Bug Buster 3-9
I was getting bored with the open sights on my Crosman 760 so I decided to get a cheap scope for it. Leapers is the only company that has a scope that is able to focus down to 3 yards I believe. So with that in mind I decided to get one! I got the Bug buster 3-9×32 off pyramidair. It really does focus down to 3 yards and a a bit lower as well. I have the thing cranked up to 6x at 8 feet which is apparently 2.67 yards. Well here’s some pictures of my neat little indoor set up, for fun of course.
5 shot group with Beeman Silver Bear Hi-impact .177 Cal, 7.1 Grains
I know it’s only 2.67 yards but it’s still some fun. Will have to take it outside and see what I can do with it @ 20 and 50 yards.
The scope is very clear @ 6x at that range as well.
Fun cheap good little scope.

Most of us didnt’ buy AF guns for ultra close range. That’s what a low powered springer is for. 😉 😆
I just had my first look with a Bug Buster that was on my friends Mrod, (which he just made into a Bullpup, very cool, pics coming soon)
But I agree, I couldn’t believe how short the eye relief was, I had to put my eye about 1/2″ away, maybe less? As far as the reticle, I guess for super close work it would be ok, which is what I guess what the scope is made for, but anything past 10 yrds or so could be a problem since it had really thick lines and huge mil dots that are very close together. I’m thinking the reticle would totally hide a paint ball at 20 yrds on full power. I just looked thru his scope, I didn’t shoot the gun, I should have to really see how the scope performed.
My buddy wasn’t shooting as well either with this scope, his groups weren’t as tight. (20 yrd 5 shot groups) It could be because he’s just getting used to the new bullpup design, but I’m thinking that scope didn’t help. Before he used a Centerpoint 3-9 with a more typical mil dot reticle that was much easier on the eyes. Well, my eyes anyway.
Bottom line I guess is that it works fine for DeutschKSK’s application, which is very close range indoor target shooting, and he seems to be happy with it, so that’s all that really matters eh? He’s doing something right, seeing that one holer group… 😀

Nah, Just don’t want people getting discouraged using bad equipment and giving up. Too many times the gun gets blamed for bad accuracy when it is many times the Scope. Another problem with the Bugg’y scope is that the cross hair is WIDE! 😯 Hard to see the bull’s eye around the dam thing. 😆

I noticed the fish eye on a couple of the Bug Buster leapers…. cant say I’ve noticed it on other Leapers scope though….. eye relief… yep…. imagine a bug buster on a .300 win mag…haha….

Yes Rob. It does. Terrible aboration, with huge halo. 🙁 And the eye reliefe is so short that your eye will leave smudges on the occular lens with the recoil of a pop gun. 😆

but hey…. it is what it is. I’m certainly not a scope snob and I happen to love the leapers scopes. The bug buster series truly are that. It really is fun to go ‘hunt’ insects in the yard with an airgun. Really is great fun.
Leapers makes some offset mounts…. Might be just the ticket for you.
Meanwhile, if you dont mind entertaining….
Does that scope have any ‘fish eye’ to it, or any other issues other than short eye relief? i’m interested in getting one, but I’ve had a few bug busters and I noticed a small amount of fish eye with a couple of them… I can deal with the short eye relief, but not the fish eye.
What do you mean by fish eye? Have not heard that term before.
But other than the short eye relief I can’t find any problems with it.
I wondered about that as the other bug busters I’ve had were the same way… definitely wouldnt want them on a heavy recoiling gun….

I had to put my weaver adapter on backwards to get the most eye relief still I have to put my eye closer to the scope than I would normally do with my others, good thing the gun has zero recoil!
I might get an offset mount that would solve the problem.
Looks like an awesome grasshopper gun. I use a bug buster on a MSP pumper in teh summer time to snipe grasshoppers and flies… great fun. Sight in for about 10 feet and have at it…………….

Nice. That was my first air gun ever. Good gun. Never did put a scope on it. Definitely a fun plinker.
