LED flashlight
For kicks and grins, I bought a coleman LED flashlight at Walmart today. I thought for sure it might fit in a 1″ scope ring to mount to the TSS, but I was wrong, it’s just a tad bit too fat. Oh well, it was a neat thought.
Anyhow, this little light for $29.95 is pretty awesome. It runs off 3 AAA batteries and has a white 115 lumen LED bulb, then a dial on the head that can switch off the white and turn on either a lower powered red or blue LED light.
The white is bright as hell and makes a true white light instead of that funky off coloered white that most LED’s produce. Can’t wait till tonight to try out the red in the pasture to see if it will light up eyes or not.
Now then, anybody have any ideas for something that will mount this to the TSS frame like the scope ring idea I had ?

Zip tie that sucker on the front of the gun. I had to put my flashlite on the lathe to get it to fit a scope mount.
Just looking at it grinding will be to much as well.
Buzz, actually I guess that “tad bit” is more like a “hell of a bunch” after taking a pic of it. Sure thought when I bought it that it was going to be just about the right size to fit in a set of rings.
Anyways, It’s almost dark now and I am about to drive through the pasture in a little while to see if the red light makes eyeballs reflect or not and will psot a reply a little later.
How much of a tad too fat? Would a pair of cheapo 30mm rings work?
Otherwise, I’d consider either grinding out the I.D. of the 1 inch rings a bit, or using a dremel to neatly carve a couple shallow rings in the light’s body, or some combination of both.
Funny, I was looking at that same light at WallyWorld a couple weeks ago with the same intention. 8)

OK, tonights test was a fair success. Really impressed with this little LED light. Driving around, I found several cottontails from probably 12-25 yds away. Their little beady red eyes reflected back quite well. Could not make out body detail, but the eyes would have looked great through a scope with lighted reticles.
Saw a group of deer cross the road and I stopped where they crossed. Though their eyes are much larger, I could easily pick out 12 individual eyeballs shining back from in the brush about 50 yds away.
Tomorrow night I will take it a step further and take a camera and see if I can capture what I am seeing. Got back home and here is the reflective tail lights on my truck and car under the carport just to give an idea of what this tiny little red LED light will produce.

Next shot I did not want to climb over fence, so with my back to the fence, it is 43 yds to the truck and car. Plus over the fence smells like shit anyway….. Too much skunk spray out there lately….. 😆 😆 😆
