Q:

Leshiy .25 350mm – POI shifting

Hi,

I test all PCPs that I receive in laboratory-like conditions:

I must admit than many high end airguns and barrels failed my test (9 groups, 5 shots in each group, 50 meters). By failure I mean any anomaly in grouping during 45 shots. The mean group size should stay below 20mm. And yes, I can shoot:

This is what I expect from a high end airgun. My best group was 3.5mm CTC at 50 meters so you can just imagine how small my error can be.

This is how I tested Leshiy (the doors were opened during testing, no worries 😉 ):

In the beginning everything was quite acceptable at the distance of 50 meters:

Then, after maybe 30 shots the group moved 3cm to the left:

I tested that at 10 meters and POI was shifted by like 6mm. After barrel cleaning everything was spot on again. It looks like I need to clean the barrel every 30 shots or so. Something is simply wrong with that LW barrel. I may just guess that it is just me with that problem. Am I right?

No, Wingman shoots below MOA at 50 and 100 meters.

Best accuracy is normally given by a free floating barrel design and certainly on the Leshiy there can be external factors troubling accuracy.

But isn’t the Leshiy more of a hunting tool with a “kill zone” accuracy?

No, not again!

I am jealous of that shooting range! I would agree that it sounds like a barrel issue.

I wonder if there are any decent 6.35 barrels from LW.

I think it gets dirty really fast and then the precision goes south. The choke is rather light but the lead accumulates in the middle of the barrel. I will try to polish it with Autosol.

I’ve been testing a couple of 6.35 LW barrels recently and neither of them liked JSB King pellets :sadn: .

Looks just so strange… change that barrel.

Yeah, it’s SWFA 3-15×42 FFP. It’s very unlikely the scope or mount (Vortex Cantilever) are bad.

As of the groups – I selected the best ones. Here is what happened after like 40 shots:

Low precision and shifting.

Wingman, you are lucky that you ordered Leshiy without LW barrel 😛 .

I suppose scope is failure-free? SWFA (?) should be good. My first thought was turret/reticle failure.

Never seen such a shift before on any airgun, grouping is fine… just shifted. Never had an effect like that in any of my pcp (AA, BSA, Daystate, EdGuns).
