Check it out…dude shot thru his index finger with a .22! Posted pics and tried to explain how he did it! Nothing to do with the safety he just got his finder in front of the muzzle somehow. Poor awareness on his part and he paid. Ouch!!

I thought after some 50 years of shooting air guns and into safe shooting technique it wouldn’t happen to me.

But late last summer at the farm I shot my left middle finger just above the first joint bone and exiting out above the base of the nail with my Cricket compact 177 cal tuned to send JSB 10.34g @ 920 fps.

Sorry, no piscs …………. LOL

Spotted my quarry and I prop up on a side of a tree to brace up on which was on a slanted dirt mound with some loose gravel rocks. As I got a hold on the target I started to take up the first stage, suddenly my leg lost its hold and my foot started to slide down the dirt mound. My left hand slid off of the fore grip down onto the AT with my thumb and pointer finger warped around it (like a cue stick hold) and my middle finger now came to rest in front of the muzzle of the gun, with a 6 oz trigger pull it braked from the movement. It didn’t hurt at first just a lot of blood. I always pack a first aid kit in my truck so we ended up staying the day shooting.

When I got home that night my wife give it a good cleaning, she use a piece of weed eater cord inserted right though into the wound and a turkey baster with soapy red looking disinfectant. Man, now that hurt !!!

Lucky she said it just nicked the bone/joint and hadn’t sustained and nerve damage, but it’s good for me that she is a doctor/surgeon and that it was just that natty finger that gotten shot she said.

So, yah … … . . It’s Murphy’s Law and time will tell before just one crappy miss fortune can occur.

Try to say safe guys and Happy New Year to all the best ………… hope his finger gets better !

Here I am to joining this infamous topic 🙂
Last year I was hunting with my standard Edgun Matador R3M .25 cal, and at the end of the hunt I see magpies at 70 meters.
I was afraid to see me and run away, so I rushed and instead of the stock, put my hand on the air tank and the fingers of my left hand on the barrel 🙁
I was 100% focused on them and looked through the riflescope so I was aware of where I put my hand
When I pulled the trigger I heard a strange sound and indescribable pain. The gun fell from my hands and blood dripped profusely. At first I was aware of what had happened until I saw the finger, I realized that I was shot out! On the X-ray bone is a little cracked but remained in place but did not go into surgery. Today, a year later, the middle finger is great and the first finger remained a little swollen and I do not feel 100% in it, maybe 70%. I think I did quite well with the injury, because the .25 cal and 920 fps with JSB Kings could do a lot worse damage.
It may sound like demagogy, but it really is a great sentence SHOOT SAFELY

Hopefully he doesn’t loose his finger :suprisedn:
