Leupold VX3L 4.5x14x40 SF w/Hollands reticle for the FX400
I was cruising EBAY and saw a Leupold 4.5x14x40 VXL with a custom Hollands MOA reticle.
That model is a 30MM side focus. The Hollands reticle gives over 30 shooting references plus a mil rad range finding feature.
New price to get this scope with reticle would be $1250.00, I got it for a little less than half price.
I doubt it will focus to 10M, but I usually don’t shoot at things that close.
Should shoot minute of crow.

you got yourself a good deal with that scope, and reticle is very nice
USPS Tracking tells me the scope is now waiting at the post office. I will probably wait until I make the 40 mile round trip to go to town tomorrow to get it, the Royale will not be here until tomorrow anyway.
Here is what the reticle looks like, this reticle combined with 116 minutes of adjustment at 100 yards, should put this on target beyond 300 yards.

Leupold.com has the information on the counterfit Leupolds.
They are the Mark 4’s and the little Prismatics scopes. They do not have the Leupold gold emblem and the etching is in the white on them.
So far it does not seem to be the lesser expensive line scopes that are being copied ie., VX3 and down.
The one I am getting is from a very reputable firm in Nigeria. 😉

There are some look a likes on Ebay, but your comment that most are fakes is not accurate at all.
That is not to say it has never happened, I have just not seen it.
But fraud runs rampant on a lot of internet sites.
I have owned perhaps 40 Leupolds over the years, unless this seller has put a picture up of a genuine Leupold, which I am very familar with, and put a picture up of a reticle which is identical to the one on Hollands site, and given the specs from Leupold site I think I am pretty safe.
Having said that I did see one or two knockoffs, but they were not being sold as Leupolds.
I had 18 minutes to check things out, I went to Leupolds site, Hollands and Utah Rifle LLC, the key thing to remember here is due diligence on the part of the seller.
I worry more about someone advertising something they do not even have. And in this case like all internet sales I am open to risk.
If your use your visa or Paypal or both, you can get your money back if defrauded, both Paypal and Ebay will assist you. If you send Western Union or USPO MO your fucked.

Beware of nice scopes (especially leuplod) on ebay. Most are fake and no good. If they every break and you send it to leupold then they will NOT fix it.

I got the Leupold and the Royale 400 today about 6 hours apart.
The scope was not as advertised, apparently the guy who sold it did not own it and sold it for one of his customers.
He was mistaken on the reticle, it is the Hollands reticle, however it is the 21 MOA and not the 30 MOA.
Which I can live with, because it is still so damn neat.
I put the scope on the Royale and shot it just as it was getting dark here. I got a zero and was able to shoot two 5 shot groups at 35 yards, with the single shot adapter which I bought with the rifle.
I normally shoot my Condors at this range and if I get a 1/2 inch group I am stoked, the Royale did not shoot a 1/2 inch group.
The two groups were of identicle size, both were .21 inches for 5 shots with 18 grain Exacts at 35 yards.
I did not get a owners manual with the rifle, there was a test target shot at 18 yards, like who shoots a rifle that close, and a chrony tape showing a very consistant 905 FPS with 18 grain Exacts.
I am really pleased.
To celebrate, I also bought a 30 dollar bottle of French vodka made from grapes, it is almost as smooth as that gun and scope.
