Lever action co2 rifles, who makes em?
I was out in the yard today helping my youngest son shoot his air rifle. Its a .177 pump bb/pellet rifle and its impossible for him to operate it on his own. Too hard to cock and way too hard to pump.
I was thinking, the first air rifle I had as a kid was a daisy co2 lever action rifle and it was tons of fun. I remember shooting a dragonfly right out of the air as it hovered.
So I got on the internet and did a quick search only to find that the only co2 lever action rifle I can find is a Walther for $400+ dollars. Does anybody know of a cheaper lever gun? I bet the Walther would be a cool gun but I’m not in a position to spend $400 on a gun right now.
Any tips are greatly appreciated.

Don’t beat yourself up on about the Walther, they are NOT kids guns. They are full size!.
I wanted one for Noah, my 8yo, but it is WAY too big.
Gunby has got some great options there. If you don’t have to have a lever action, the 22xx from Crosman make great little plinkers, the stocks are easily cut down, and there are several adjustable stocks out there for them (shameless plug: I make one) They are a tinkerer’s dream and can grow with him as he wants bigger, better, faster.

Or… get an old (made 1958 to 1971) Crosman Hahn 166. Again, the cocking only loads another projectile (this time a BB) and cocks the hammer.
I bought this like-new-in-box on Gunbroker.com for $100. It needs a little work on the hammer spring but I’ll get to it some time.
This is a little gun made for youngsters. However, steel BB bounce and I’ve blown out expensive windows shooting them from a Drozd BB machine gun at 750 fps. Lead pellets splat on impact and don’t bounce much.
They come up on Gunbroker and other auctions regularly. Be sure to get one with the seals already replaced so your boy won’t have to wait to shoot.

Get an old(made 1965 to 1970) Crosman 99. Great gun and very, very easy to cock. The cocking only serves to load another .22 pellet from the “tubular” magazine into the chamber and cock the hammer to low power. For high power, the little guy just has to thumb the hammer back one more click.
The gun uses standard 12 gram CO2 carts. I have one of these and they are way cool from the 1970s.
