Q:

Long Range plinking

Hi guys,

Yesterday was one of those typical Cape winter days, the weather was perfect for long range shooting.
A friend joined me for a few hours in the morning, when he left I went to another farm and set up some balloons at a distance.
The rangefinder confirmed they were at 185yrds
The only thing that sucked was having to walk down to the dam to ‘replenish’ the targets.
In the vid below, I didn’t use any hold over for wind.
This was my 3rd attempt, the first 2 I averedged 1-2 shots/balloon-a light breeze made it difficult to judged the drift.

The rifle was my Condor .22 pushing 18gr Jsbs @ 930fps. You can see on the vid that the pellets take a short while to reach the targets.

Thanx GKU, these Fx barrels are insanely accurate. Just before I installed it, I gave it a good clean and haven’t touched it since. Definitely the best mod I could’ve done.

Nice shooting & good way to relax (kind of mind yoga – must improve concentration capability).

Anyways – real question what was the air pressure in tank ? & did you have a shroud installed ?

I have a condor, 0.22 @ 2500psi and loud sonic crack with Beeman Kodiak 21.12 gr.

Dplinker, no I was using a silencer, I had a standard Condor (24″ barrel) and eventually shortened the frame and fitted a 20″ Fx Smooth twist barrel.
The rifle is similar in length to Talon. At the time I made the vid the tank pressure was around 2000psi, I have an o’ring under the tophat with the gap set to .75′ -if I remember correctly.
There is a ton of info around here to help you bring the velocity down and get your rifle set up properly.
