That’s right. The industry standard is velocity squared X weight divided by the constant of 450240= Foot Pounds of energy. Velocity squared is velocity times velocity.

So what is one foot pound of energy in the real world. One foot pound is the force applied by dropping a one inch diameter weight at the distance of one foot. Now imagine the damage that 100 pounds applied in the same one inch diameter circle when dropped one foot. In fact, imagine it being dropped on “your” foot. It would do a lot of damage. This will kinda give you an idea of what the force is. Now imagine this same weight being applied by the size of the point of the 1 inch diameter circle being reduced to a .22 diameter rod. Now you can get an idea of the penetrating capabilities.

Ever wonder why a 50 Fpe. Gun will our perform a 12 pound gun! And why many Countries don’t want you to have it?

12 pounds dropped on my foot= Ouch! 50 pounds= Oh Fuck! Now in a .22 diameter = Theres a hole through my foot! Or what ever else made of flesh it hits. 😯

F=MA or force=mass x acceleration. I believe v squared is a fair assumption for acceleration.

2 velocities….Explain? 😕

I have an FPE spreadsheet with a LOT of pellets on it. You just put in the weight, and the speed, and it will calculate it for that pellet, then you can click on the pellet and it will take you to a website to see them.
