Q:

looking for suggestions for a climbing air pistol

well… here’s a brief back story….

the other day wile I was in a tree dead wooding it I came upon a tree rat nest with a big assed pissed off fat male and he was none to happy that I was in his tree to say the least, I had to defend myself was a chain saw and my hand saw… chain saw is way to foolish to swing around… but I dam near got him with the hand saw once, needless to say I didn’t tho….. so, I’m looking for something that I can carry in a holster on my harness. I’s got to be Small and light weight and quick to get to, be able to take a beating and work every time, co2 in thinking as pumping wouldn’t be quick enough, and quiet so I wouldn’t have to put a big ldc on it. shots will be taken at very close range so power isn’t real important………So tell me what ya all think would work

quote get the blue jay:

Use a squirt pistol filled with Amonia, that way the Old Man can come back and take care of the Baby when you leave. Only have to fill it once and it will be ready when you need it, will also work on agressive Dogs and even Rabid animals that you might come upon unexpectidly. A pit Bull will run for cover regardless of how mean he is. Amonia is the people pretecter..

I like that idea, but then I wont get an after work snack…and I just like to kill furry things 😕

btw.. pits aren’t mean dogs, it’s their fucked in the head owners that need to be put down for turning some of them that way

Why not a PB pistol with Bird shot?

residential 😉

Amonia to a human’s face could be ugly if it get’s in your eyes =)

a well placed spit ball could do a number on him 😆

The problem with a slingshot is that you need two hands and a good stance. Being up in a tree almost by definition, requires you to have one hand on the tree and be in a precarious position.

I hear you on the owning-a-gamo thing. I have never tried a gamo pistol, but would consider one as long as I could return it within 30 days.

I do have a 357-6 which has killed several large rats at close range while they were still alive in one of those spring traps. Fast follow up shots made for more humane kills. I pretty much swiss cheesed them. Ii use pointed pellets to obtain the best penetration. At such short distances, accuracy is not an issue.

Good luck…let us know what you go with.

Sig Sauer P226 X-Five CO2

thanks guys, I’ll check into them….. kind of hate the idea of owning a gamo but I’ll still look at them….. I like the sling shot idea, I have a very large one I use for shooting a throw ball and line into the canopy for a bull rope or my climb rope when it’s a tree I can’t spike into, it way to large and cumbersome for this application tho

Or maybe a Gamo PT-80 or PT-90 would be good.
Smaller in size, about the same weight and multi-shot.

+2 on the Crosman 357 pistol. 10 shots in rapid order and it is accurate and plenty of power for close quarters.
And it is not expensive either. Especially if you happen to have a Sheels Sporting Goods store nearby. They only want $39.95 for them there!!!! 😯

None near you in AZ. though….. 😥

(plus, they are lots of fun…) 😆 😆

Since I am the resident ninja here, blowguns dont work, but throwing knives do!

Get a nice set of throwing knifes, not the long knife type, but more of a skinning blade type, you can keep them on your back, and when that squirrel comes after you, pin it to the tree! Also its fun!

😎

I have a crosman 357-6 (10 shot) that I would use. It has plenty of power at that close range. There are probably some other revolver type pellet pistols that would work well. I might look at some of the gamo pellet pistols, of course I’d buy through PA or somewhere with a good return policy. 😉

just a suggestion but how about a nice slingshot ,with 3/8″ steel ball ,folds up nice in your back pocket.i killed several squirrels with a slingshot it is kind of rewarding. and you cant get any quieter.
