Love my 25 Talon
I got my 12″ 25 caliber barrel today and put it on, it is one hard hitting barrel.
I put it in the Talon (not ss) frame and used the high flow tank and extra hammer weight.
It is raining so I only got to try 3 shots,,,,2 with the 24.5 grain Diablo exact and one with the 43 Grain EJ.
Setting on #5 on the wheel, and here is my Energy specks, now I only shot three times, rained me out.
The 43 Grain EJ on 5 gave me45 Foot pounds, and the 24.5 gave me 37 Foot pounds.
Never cranked it up any higher.
I’ll do more when the sun shines maybe tomorrow. It is a good shooter and powerful gun and the best Bush Gun your money can buy.
The Diablo was around 824 FPS and the EJ 43 grain was in the mid 600’ds. I’ll know more tomorrow.
That little 25 is a keeper, Love it love it love it. 😀

I filled the Talondor tank to 2800, and tried it too get a setting of where we are heading with the 25 caliber shorty 25.
Now we have to consider several things in this equation, One is that the temperatures and Barometric pressure during both test were different.
So that has an affect on the readings. Sitting here I wish I had tried my other tank as well, but the readings isn’t that far off.
The TT Tank hit at 2800 PSI 743 FPS Giving the way I calculate a 43 grain EJ pellet 52.949 (53) Foot Pounds of Energy.
So that is between the high and low of the test the other warm day, being today is colder.
So the Gun is a Keeper.
I also used the TT shourd that came with my TT Talondor to make the test being today is Sunday and I didn’t want anyone to think I’m a little off my Rocker.LOLOL
Just wanted to follow up on the Questions asked about the 12 inch Barrel.
There you go, ,, By the way, the Tony Tank also looks better cause of the polishing he does on the valve LOLOL. 😀
I didn’t have a High flow valve to put on the tank so I took one of my CO’2 Adapters and made me a valve out of it. All I done was exchange the parts and gaged the top hat with the condor valve I have on my other gun.
That kept me from having to buy another high flow tank set up.
Sometimes the power is in the Valve itself.
I might try the Talon tunes tank I have with my 25 talondor and see if I get the same. If I get more or less I’ll post it. Thanks for the post. âž¡
Shaggy, you’re doing pretty good to get 55 fpe out of a 12″ .25 barrel. I have a 17″ .25 barrel and 55 fpe is what I got with the same pellet. My fill was 2200 though—-does anybody know if I’d get a lot more with a 3,000 psi fill?
I only use an Air rifle at 45 yards. I’d say it can be zeroed further, but I like the shocking rate of the pellet or Bullet.
I don’t shoot a 22 powder burner rim fire any further than 50 Yards, and that’s with 36 grain 1300 FPS hollow points.
The affective rate depends on what you use it for. Birds could be killed a long way out.
But as A rule of thumb the pellet gun is my gun of choice for different reasons, I have a 100 yard shot here in my yard, but in range of things I would shoot at I can be within 40 Yards of anything I want to hit. Squirrel, Rabbit, Groundhog, Crow, rat or snake.
I have shot bees off of my target at a long ways out.
The 25 has the weight in it’s corner and hits hard, Now the shorty 25 is Loud, so take that under consideration when you buy it. And to shroud it would only take the purpose of having it off the table. In my neighborhood sound isn’t a problem Guns are fired off all the time you hear them almost daily, it is farm country.
We all like guns around here no one complains.
And the Air rifle (cause of my Purchases and showing them off has really got people thinking around here. I think I am the Pioneer of the PCP here where I live, no one would have thought they would do what I do with mine.
The 308 Corsair going through a Heavy treated Lowe’s 4X4 was really an eye opener. There’s no doubt in these peoples mind’s that that kind of power was in an air rifle.
So like anything else to answer your Question how much power are you after and what are you hunting.
The shorty 25 is a fantastic brush Gun out to 45 yards, and here in these hills that’s a long shot for a Squirrel or Rabbit, so it’s a go for it gun. 😀
Also there isn’t a lot of Laws on the books against a person walking down a road with a loaded air rifle, unlike the Powder Burner if you are on the road walking with a 22 or any other powder burner in a hunting situation or even strolling on a walk with it on a dirt road and a game warden pulls up, that powder burner better not be loaded. But air guns are just something we shoot and stump shoot with and not much attention is given to a air rifle with a pellet or BB in it ready to show, as long as no one is complaining about you shooting out a car window LOLOL. That you have to watch with any gun, Just knowing the Area is the best way to stay safe and keep the friendship up in a place you like to frequent and shoot.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for posting this info Shaggy. I really like my .25 Marauder, so I am intrigued with the prospect of spitting out accurately placed, hard hitting .25 caliber pellets from a short, lightweight carbine. What do you think the maximum effective distance is?
Good job.
At 3/4’ths inch low on 20 yards, the gun hits dead center at 42 yards and the Group (Me shooting) is 7/8ths inch. About as good as my Marauder, it’s a toss up. 😀
OK that’s the best info I got on the Talon shorty 25 12″ barrel. âž¡
LOL I was close.
It was set on level 8 on the power wheel, I forgot to mention that. 😀
Here’s the scoop.
With a 2800 psi fill, and using 43.2 EJ pellets, this Talon 25 is getting 768.7 FPS and figuring on 450400 = 768′ squared 590899.69 X 43.2 =25526866.60
Divided by 450400=56.67 Foot Pounds of Energy.
Same fill 2800 with 25.4 grain Diablos is as follows.
858.8 Feet per second squared =737537.44 X 25.4=18733450.97 Divided by 450400=41.59 Foot pounds of energy. And this was done with the Mussel about 4 feet from the Chrono. 😀
I wish I had a movie cam to do better, but that’s the scoop here from my talon shorty carbine. Love it. 😯
Great information. It’s really helpful.
I’m gonna to place my order tomorrow for the .25 barrel.
Hope you can have more detail when the weather gets better.
Thanks,
Kelvin
Where did you buy your .25 barrel from if you don’t mind I’m asking. Did you get it from air force? Or just after market.
I’m planning to do the same mod and looking around for the barrel.
Thanks,
Kelvin
I bought the hammer weight and the Barrel from Air Force.
It got here pretty fast. I’m sure it will do the specks, I just didn’t crank it up on high. I’m really satisfied with it like it is on the 45 Foot Pounds, it is a excellent Brush gun I can’t say enough good words about it, really fantastic,. 😉
My airpressure was set at 2500 Psi in the tank. I didn’t go any higher on the first try, I’m still checking teh sweet spot on the wheel, but I’m satisfied with it right now,, It is Loud! 😯

I had one Jerry’s 7 ring slugs left so i thought I’d try it in the Stuby 25 talon I’m assuming it is 70 grains, 580.8 Squared X 70 devided by 450400= 52.42 Foot pounds of energy.
I only had the one left and the fill was 2800 PSI. âž¡
