Q:

Low Chrony Numbers on .25????

I have a TSS with a 24in .25 caliber barrel and my chrony numbers seem a bit low…..I have been adjusting the TH and I cannot seem to find a spot where it goes up at all. I can get about 760 with RB’s and 730 with Kodiaks…. around 39 fpe max while it should be at like 45-49.

Please help!

critter-
stock talon 24″ barrel .25 cal
crow mags.
around 810fps average, but My talon is from mach-1 and I would have to say Tim trimmed the hammer spring down a bit, how much couldn’t tell ya.
When I bought the gun the PW did nothing, Tim cut the hammer spring a bit to make the P/W do something.

Later-

SAW

I’ll celebrate for ya. 😀

pull it out and clean it up, lube with a bit of silicon and give it a try.

if you have a drill press or access to one then chuck it up and polish it.

I just drained the air from the thing, the valve is a b@#$h to push in and VERY,VERY scratchy……That may explain it!

the quick reference section will explain it, i’ve been there as you’ll see. 😀

Hmm, must have a bum valve? How do you get the thing off BTW? It’s like locktite hell!!!!

My 21 inch .25 with a polished talon valve is putting kodiak extra heavies out at 780-800 fps. Eunjins drop down to low 700s. Haven’t tried my condor valve yet, my stock hammer won’t open it reliably. Only pellets i’ve tried as of yet. Excellent accuracy with the kodiaks out past eighty yards. 😀

I didn’t have a chrony and I had a puny 12 incher in it….Sorry, no numbers!

what were you getting in .22?

fps not fpe 😉

In .25, people are easily achieving 48-49 fpe without modifications to the gun. I started a thread a while back and in .25, the extra weight HELPS the amount of power produced, even with the talon valve.

Well I know others have similar setups and their power levels are much higher…..

With .25 or .22? That extra weight of the .25 makes a big diff.

Mo’ valve.

Sounds like there is a whole lot of barrel volume needing to be filled with air in order to get the speed any higher (although 38-39 foot pounds is probably plenty). Basically, if you want Condor speeds are going to have to use a Condor valve (and maybe the heavier hammer as well).
