LUCKY DAY / A TRIP TO THE RECYCLING YARD
So I work in an auto repair shop and every few months I haul off a bunch of old brakes, waterpumps, radiators, etc for recycling. Took a half day off to go to the scrap place today. As I am between the scales and the dumping area, I spy a familiar shape on top of a big crate of scrap metal parts. With a little begging and pleading, I was allowed to bring home 25 pounds of scrap metal (they don’t normally sell anything) ; someonelses trash. If I’m lucky I can get it cleaned up and functional.
Here’s what $25 worth of scrap looks like today. (deducted from what I turned in) So a truckload of old brake rotors and radiators got me this and a $100 check.

I found Jim’s site yesterday spoke with him for a little while by phone, very helpful. Got some good pointers.
I’ve got a broken cylinder, and the old oil pretty much turned to something like dried up cosmoline inside, plus side of that is everything internal is well preserved. Lots of cleaning to do. so not going to be quite as cheap a project as I had hoped but did locate a 100% intact parts compressor yesterday for 150.00. Looking like I might be able to keep the budget under 300.00 for a 3500psi compressor. not bad 😉

My neighbor has one, but i am waiting till I catch him using it rather than askin him to fire it up just for me. Its only 5€ a fill locally, Im on the cost 😀

I have never met anyone with such good luck…, I get a good deal 1x per year and man…, if I could find something like that I would hop & skip for a week, LOL!!

Yeah, I had researched them a while back and parts availability was decent, just didn’t want to pony up the bucks for a new one. Couldn’t beleive my eyes when I notices this one poking up out of a scrap bin. Not counting chickens yet, but hopefull.
Incredible deal if you can get it running. Those guys on Ebay who sell the whole units also sell parts for them.
I think they go around 3300PSI (Edit… Sharp said 3200 per specs on unit)

I don’t expect the elec. motor to be worth a damn, but that’s an easy fix.
