Luxfer scuba tanks

FYI got my Luxfer80 cu. ft.tank back from being hydro tested today. It passed the test but the scuba shop would not fill it.
Seams any Luxfer tank made before 1989 was made from an inferior aluminum alloy an are exploding even after they pass hydro testing. Google Luxfer alum. Tanks and you can see the warning. The warning is even on eBay. The owner of the scuba shop felt sorry for me and sold me a brand new tank and valve and free fill for $130. He also thru in card for 14 free refills.
Told me to take the valve out of the Luxfer. tank and take it to the recycling center and they will give me $30. For it. That will get me my $25. Hydro test money back.

I get my airhog filled at some small scuba shop in town(why we have a scuba shop in NM, I don’t even understand?!), but now I’ll have to try the fire department. I live like a block from the county fire station.

Notice , to anyone who wants to buy a scuba tank in order to have , so they can fill their air gun (s) . First if you have a scuba shop or even your
local FIRE DEPARTMENT you should check with them first before you buy that air tank from anyone , or on line to make sure that the manufacture of that
air tank is a good tank that can be hydroed and refilled . There are brands of scuba tanks made that are not worth buying and a scuba tank even
made by a good manufacture can only be rehydroed so many times before it becomes totally worthless . So sometimes it is better to pay the cost
of a new air tank and be able to have it rehydroed from the first time to the last time which if new may last you 15 to 20 years . I have not only been
a cerfitied diver for 43 years , but in my younger years I also was an instructor at our local commmunity college in scuba diving .

fire departments are the way to go.. some of them know just as much about tanks and better yet, won’t try and force sales down your throat. They’ll even fill for you sometimes. Especially if you’re in a rural area.

Correct! Now all I need is my prochrono to arrive and I am ready to start tuning my condor SS

That sucks about your tank but sounds like your SCUBA guy is a real stand up guy! Now you have a brand new one and don’t have to worry about it for a few years!
