Q:

Make your Mrod quieter

I put this on the Yellow this morning and some assface deleted. He got his panties in a bunch and said I violated rule 11. (Rule 11 pertains to LDC’s and Moderators, I was talking about an mrod stock shroud) I don’t give a fuck, but I hate the yellow. It’s run by a bunch of candy-ass losers who never got any action in high school, so they swing their puny dicks around and delete posts and whine about the rules (then they go and break the same rules, and it’s supposed to be ok— Reminds me a bit of a certain President). I’m not going back, so fuck em.

Anyway, if you want to quiet down your marauder, try this:

I put holes in the face of the baffles. 8 holes around the outside of the hole the pellets travel through. (I used a nail. I held it with pliers and got it glowing hot on the stove burner, then pressed it through the front face of the baffle to make the holes. Then I used a razor blade to scrape off the overflow).
I did half of the baffles, and left the other half unmodified…then alternated them inside the shroud…Modified, unmodified, modified, unmodified….
I have a shroud extension on mine, so there are 2 additional baffles in the shroud.
Oh, and I also increased the size of the holes in the air stripper. That made a very big difference as well.

The holes act as air strippers and let the air flow a bit smoother, and make the POP a lot quieter. I did the same mod on my BNM shroud and the only noise from it is the hammer sliding forward.

Ah, Your the Keith with the Killer Harley? Right? If so, we have talked on the other AG forum a few times.

Yep that’s me. Correction though! BigDog all the way baby!

Hi Keith!

Have you vented the shroud yet?

Simple, easy to do with a hand drill, helps.

Six 1.5mm to 2.0mm holes (yes, you will need to buy a special bit)

Place them evenly spaced around the rear of the shroud, about two inches from the breech.

I opened up the front barrel bushing a bit to permit better air flow to the rear of the shroud.

The key here is small and few. Too many, or too large, and the holes develop a sound signature of their own. This mod should not be loud at all. It artifically expands the space the pressurized air can release into, and reduces the load on the baffles. You can use masking tape, two pieces, to keep the holes in a straight circle for looks. at 2.0mm, or less, they barely show, especially if you touch them up with a pointed permanent black Sharpie.

I’ve done this on just about every rifle I’ve owned and it works. My .25 Crickest is now near dead silent with the OEM shroud.

Kind regards,

Uncle H 😯 😯 t

If it can’t be seen, and can’t be heard, it didn’t happen.

I read someone’s post a few years ago that porting the baffles helped quite a bit on moderators with the plastic baffles like Marauders rifles. I put a TKO on my P-Rod but I would like to quiet my .25 Marauder rifle down a bit w/o making it any lonnnnnger.

Progressives = Communists 😈

If this is the Keith I use to talk to on AGA, Howdy! Great to hear from you! Yes, I miss AGA, but not the two faced double dealing. You still shooting that killer Rapid?

I should have a .257 Bbl, valve, and hammer here soon. Really looking forward to “LONG” Range. 😯
RC and Tof have been kicking butt with the .257’s lately. They have really re-kindled my interest in Airgunning. 😉

There is a lot of ground breaking going on here at the TAG! 😀

Knifemaker I feel your pain. I saw your post and also saw the outcome. The Gestapo over there are really out of control. A member posted some info about a banned individual. The member was new to the forum and had no clue about the individual. Instead of explaining the situation, they simply just said he is banned here and locked the thread. I in-turn asked why not put a post in the forum rules area denoting who the banned members are and also who the members should stay clear of who scam other people. All I got was and immediate removal of my post. Again, merely for just making a suggestion to make it easy on all of us. They would rather censor the innocents instead of calling out the guilty.
I like the forum. There are a lot of good members there with a lot of good information. But if you ever question the establishment you are going into the proverbial doghouse. I realize it’s their/his house and his rules. But I’m sorry, he’s a bully. He sits behind his little computer and waves his little finger over the big red BAN button. Just look at what he did to JohnnySweden. This gentleman has at his disposal a plethora of information about FX rifles. But just because he is a bit biased and loved pushing that particular product, he was banned and was told he could come back only after making an apology to God himself. They really need to get their act together over there before all of the progress they have made comes to a screeching halt.
I know this is only one man’s opinion. And I apologize if some of you feel this is out of line. But I thought I fought for a country where you didn’t have to worry about censorship shy of yelling “Fire” in a crowded theater. Thanks for letting me vent.

Keith.

Yep, biggest bunch of pussy’s I’ve ever seen over there!

Airgunadvice isn’t much better. They have bitches to the point that the AAG forum is just about dead.

Can’t post a LDC there, Cant talk abut them there, can’t ask questions about them there, yet a builder (Swift, and a good job he does too!), makes them, pictures them, and describes them in great detail. WTF???

Fuck I hate progressives! 👿

Important note: There was NO effect on accuracy after doing this mod.
