Making a Accuracy International Stock from a Bam 51 stock

I bought a BAM 51 a few weeks ago.

I have been intrigued by them since I first got on this site and read about Crowpoppers BAM 50/51.

The one I bought had belonged to Cyg and had a dubious life since.

Basically it was a old whore who had been screwed by a few tricks along the way, and worked on by some greats in the airgun community like big ED, so she had a great heart.

The shroud was a diaster, the stock was broken and rather well repaired, and the rails for the scope did not neccesarily point in the correct direction and the trigger had this weird angle to it.

But it shot 25 caliber projectiles at 60 FPE, what not to love?

Well the stock and the shroud to name a few.

I cured some air leaks, got rid of the shroud internals which shortend the rifle considerably.

I worked on accuracy and since I did not need two LBT’s, mainly because Dyotats new valve made the 25 LBT carbine shoot as hard as the rifle did. I decided that next week, I will send my LBT rifle barrel to Dyotat and have him fit it to the BAM 51 and go thru life with just the LBT carbine.

Now that I had the barrel thing eventually cured and would not have to deal with the shroud et. al., any further, I turned my attention to the stock.

My buddy Riverside had purchased one of the Accuracy International style stocks for a Mrod, and I really liked that , so being a cheap bastard I loooked at my options. Other than buying a airsoft and hoping I could mod the cheap chinese plastic stock to the Bam 51, I decided to see if I could mod the cheap chinese soft wood Bam 51 stock to look like a Accuracy International stock.

So three days ago I bought some body filler at Bi Mart and went to work.

I started off by marking the wood to remove, cut some, then I mixed up several batched of body filler material and put it on in thin successive layers and did a hell of a lot of sanding.

And so far this is what I have.

The cheek piece fits great where it is at, so I will mod it and permantently set it without the adjustable feature.

The stock is a little long, so I will trim it slightly and mount a non adjustable butplate to it that I just ordered from Brownells.

I bought some textured olive drab paint and will paint the stock and give it flat black trim. I have not decided wheather to make faux screw holes like the original had but who knows having way too much time on my hands, it will probaly have fake screw holes whenI am done.
