Making stock for Airmax PCP Pistol

So I been stewing over what to do with this pistol since I’m no fricking pistolero. So today I went to Home Depot and grabbed a 6′ pieces of 3/4′ red oak for 26 bucks. Here where I’m at right now. Getting ready to saw a 1x6x3/4″ piece in half.

Well..the way you put it, it sounds silly, but I feel your pain. So, this is what I would do….Id just buy the next size up tap and rethread it by hand. It will be sturdier than before. Just remember next time, not to tighten it with all your brut force. 🙂

That came out really nice looking. Mine shit its guts when I went to the .25. The rear most and longest screws to hold the hammer spring housing in place stripped. Gun kinda cocks, shit goes all cattywhompass hammer barely moves.

I guess I’m still figuring out how to post images from photobucket on here.

Looks pretty cool. Good work. When i did mine, I sunk the gun down more and just cut out behind the trigger so it wouldn’t stick up so much. I’m converting mine to .25 too, soon.

very nce indeed, you got my interest.

It’s against state law to kill any snake in Arkansas, venomous or non-venomous.

I would never harm a venomous snake that could kill me, or my dog…never, ever….I “Humanely Relocate Them“…that includes a decent burial followed by a short prayer!

Snake meat is, however, pretty good to eat! It has no “gamy” taste and is mostly white meat. I had a section of “Chicken-Fried” rattlesnake meat in a Dallas restaurant once…however, I think the bastards cheated me…pretty sure they served me the neck!!!

Shit canned the .25 project! Trigger problems developed. Indeed I made a adapter 1/2″20x 7/16″20 and drilled and tap the shroud end cap.

WOW…just noticed you converted to .25 caliber!!!

Here’s a hint…you can order .25 caliber 19gr pellets from Pyramydair and this will jump your FPS up by a lot over the usual 25gr pellets. 19gr is still heavier than a .22 JSB, so it will pack a punch with the larger diameter.

You can go to almost any auto shop and purchase a spray can of Rust-Oleum, Professional Grade, truck bed liner, guaranteed not to peel and very heavy duty grain. If you get this, be sure to spray from no close than 14″ and use several coats about an hour apart. This stuff dries almost immediately but cures hard over a few days…I use it and it’s top grade, feels good, and hard as the wood it’s on! That would eliminate that acid red oak matter discussed earlier…just spray the inside of the stock and let it dry for a day or so, then squeeze it in.

Dear Milksack…

I have an Airmax pistol ordered. I wanted a pcp pistol, but I’m not paying $600 to $900 for one. I ordered .22 and plan to use 10 – 12 gr pellets in it to keep the fps over 600 and possibly hit 650+ if my math works out. Depends on how heavy the pellets the factory stated they hit 600 fps in .22 caliber.

The Airmax should get the job done. Accuracy is questionable beyond 10 meters because I’ve not seen anyone report results. I’m going to put a red dot scope on mine, since my primary use will be snakes.

Further, I planned to put a short butt stock on it, but I was pleasantly surprised to see you are way ahead of me. My gun doesn’t arrive until sometime later this month. I’m curious about your accuracy at longer distances with a scope.

I need compact and quiet. I noted you have a .457 Catsull large water buffalo gun silencer on yours. I suspect it is quite effective. How did you get it attached? Did you have to make a 1/2 X 20 threaded adapter for it? It doesn’t come with an adapter does it????

Take care. I’m watching….

PS: Here’s why I need a short, quiet, pcp…Cottonmouth got hooked on my lure. Sorry for the quality but it was very early AM:

Hi Lead thanks for the info.

Keep a eye on your mounting hardware. Oak is very acidic and will corrode metal.
I made a red oak axe handle once and it heavily corroded the eye of the bit. Not saying this will happen but I’d keep a eye on things

Damn so ordered some bedliner off eBay, seems it leaked during shipping and never made it. I have some black Under coating that wife bought for her Silverado. Brushed it in all the fender wells it dried pretty, hard guess I’ll try it. Cut a 14″ marauder .25 barrel, drilled and tapped a couple 8×32 installed that yesterday evening. Got dark so no idea how fast it shoots.
