matador # 2557
Got my matador last week. Set it to 900 fps with 18.1 jsb. Shoots very good, have leopold 3-9 efr on it. I always shoot with cane shooting sticks even at targets, because thats how I hunt. I check my scope sitting on my back steps with sticks. I know I might do better from a bench but sticks do a good job for me. If I do my part, .50- .75 in. groups are possible at 50 yds. I love to squirrel hunt this time of year. I took the matador last saturday and got 5. One at 30 yd.-one at 50yd.-one at 53 yds. one at 59 yd. and one at 75 yd. The 75 yd. shot was my longest ever on a tree rat. I cant believe I got those longer shots with a new gun but its so easy to shoot well. I dont understand one thing about this gun, its velocity is pretty consistant from 190 bar down to 130 bar and then fps climbs ? up about 30 fps and it starts to shoot high. Any ideas what thats about ? The velocity varies about 20 fps between 190-130 bar . that seems like a lot for a regulated gun,but I can get 35-40 good shots before 130 bar and the fps climbs. Any thoughts ?

Im really not trying to trash my gun, because I like it. Its a keeper. Just trying to learn where my best shots are in its string so I can do my best with it. In the last 2 years ive owned an AA 400, a cyclone FX ,and a Royale 400. This matador will outshoot all of them by quite a large margin. The only other ag I own now is my trusty old talon ss with 18 in. barrel in .22. It to would outshoot the AA and the FX guns. Strange but true.
