Matador bubble leveler
I am currently awaiting for my new Hawke 6-24x-56 scope to arrive, during the meantime, I got out one of my first scopes. VISM 2.5-10x-50. Yeah I bet most of you never heard of it lol. Newbie mistake but I am actually happy with it. Very clear scope for an unknown brand. Anyways, I have 3 different type of bubble levelers. Wheeler, B-square and two generic ones I got at Walmart. I have a B-square on my Cricket and it works fine. But when I put one on the R3M, I am getting different readings at 4 points on the gun. Wheeler on the scope rail, B square also on the scope tower, one over the breech and one in front of the breech. You might say the cheap walmart ones are the culprit but I am just using them as references. If I were to put the wheeler leveler over by the breech it would give me same reading. So when you level your gun/scope, where are you aligning the scope with? Rail, breech?

Donny, my air gun brother, you are at least a half a bubble OFF! The scary part is I understand it, keep fuxsing.

I run a laser level up the back and front and top of gun (center of barrel to center of breech) to make sure its level.
Gun is locked into place on bench vise using tapered shims for adjustment.
Scope mounted and reticle leveled to another laser line on wall 30 feet away then lock down scope.
Double check gun level and also from top of gun check that scope is centered on line from the tip of barrel to breech.
Install bubble level and adjust for correct level reading.
Laser level always checked for accuracy with both sides of 6ft carpenters level on wall for vertical and horizontal and a plumb line and water level line to verify accuracy of carpenters level.

I go with the scope rail and lock the AG in a vise then I use a long level placed further out and align my crosshairs with that.
I always go off the scope rail. longer levels are more accurate if you have any. You can also put your little ones on a longer one to check them to see if they’re true, assuming your longer level is.
Matt, even before leveling your scope, where do you usually place the level on your gun to level it out?
Took cheek piece off cricket and leveled again. I think my conclusion is that B-square is not accurate.
Donny that level down on the breech cover will never be true level unless you attach it permanently to the breech and then file it level.
I just tried on the Cricket, and getting different readings as well. Seems as the B square lines up with the Breech. However, the B square does not line up with a level that is sitting on top of the rail.
Yes, I am guessing the Wheeler level is the most accurate so if I were to take that one, and placed them on the breech, it would give me the same readings as the cheap walmart ones. I used to level my gun by putting a bubble on the breech and the wheeler on top of the scope turret. I would then try to align the scope with the breech. But now I am thinking I should go with the scope tower reading and get my scope to match up with that?

Have you tried reversing the B-Square level to see if it reads the same on the other side of the rail. It’s also really important to have it perpendicular to the rail (all levels for that matter).
I’d agree that the B-Square unit is the one that is the least accurate. :angrymob:
