Q:

Matador R4 – power level

Hi,

This is the question to Ed.

Ed, you mentioned R4 was designed for maximum power. Do you think that R4 will achieve 280 – 290 m/s with JSB King 0.25 Heavy 2.2g and the same speed with JSB .30 3.2g?

Thanks!

I talked to Ed about the R4. The one you saw in the photos is a concept. He obviously has a lot of work head so wondering about the R4 is premature. The next gun to come out is the Leshiy.

We talk a lot about power…..but how about air efficiency? More efficient than R3, same or worsen??

of course, the longer barrel and non chocked will be more air efficient than the shorter and chocked barrels, regarding the regulators, i think Ed use the same regulator he has used before,,, or as i said Ed might got some inspire to create a new reg ,,, :winkn:

but i don’t prefer the single shot version,,,since Ed is able to use the same cocking mechanism of the new Lelya for R4 ,,, and put more magazine holders under the scopes rail

It may be somewhat stable at 955 but if you drop your speed down to under 900 it will be more stable and your groups will get tighter, this is just from my experience.

If you shoot a .30 at 955 fps i hope your not shooting past 30 yards because your pellet is not going to be stable! I would slow it down and take accuracy over power.

He’s talking about the 34 grain .25s at 955 not the .30

I am talking about both .25 and .30.

Why do you think .30 is not stable at 280 – 290 m/s?

Smart,
chocked barrels for powerful guns are a limiting factor.

i.e., cast with better BC’s perhaps.

ED… removed the chocked barrels for the extra long 70cm barrel especially for that purpose. …

So the new R4 range .25 or .30 will not have choked barrels? If not this will allow for some interesting projectile options i.e., cast with better BC’s perhaps.

Just a thought. :2cents:

I think it will go through the walls and it will stop in the bedroom of his neighbor

34gr at 955 FPS …this will be the serious killing airgun ….

i will expect this power with the R4 extra long one only, as the barrel has no chock and the length of the barrel is 70cm, and what is good about this new long one is the air reservoir has capacity of 406cm3,

but what im not sure is about the pressure working, 300 bar to 120 bar,,, the ES will not be consistence ,,, unless Ed must come with some inspire and make a miracle for the new R4 regulators … 😀 😀 😀 ,,,

or Ed must think of some external adjustment tool on the reg or HST like the Speed Dial which is made for Benjamin Marauder and Pistol at (AOA)

or make the electronic mechanism to control the reg or HST … or i don’t know,,, just my :2cents: …. i hope Ed reply ….
