Michal Osyda walnut Mutant stock
My nine month odyssey courtesy of USPS and customs is finally over. Last October I saw Dman1114’s thread about this custom stock maker and decided to have a walnut replacement stock built for my Mutant. Like lots of other Mutant owner’s my problem was never the feel of the factory stock or its shape. I just like quality wood and nicely finished stocks. I requested Mr. Osyda to make a factory style stock in walnut. It was completed in early October after just two weeks. I received tracking information upon shipment but the stock went into a black hole when it reached U.S. customs. U.S. customs ignored tracing requests from the buyer and shipper for four months. Mr. Osyda refunded my money and that seemed to be the sad end of this lost shipment. Last weekend he contacted me to say the stock was returned to him with no prior notice nine months later. USPS had his return address the whole time and yet it took nine months to return the stock in spite of all of our tracing requests getting no answers. Taking no chances a second time I paid for UPS Express Saver shipping and got the stock from Poland to my home in just 4 days.
Mr. Osyda has a website and can build custom stocks as he has for SECoda and others. The walnut stock he built matches the quality of the rest of the rifle. The Mutant is the quietest most accurate and well designed bullpup I’ve ever seen. The only missing element was woodwork befitting the quality of the rifle. I’m glad the long wait was not in vain. Moral of the story: spend a few bucks extra and don’t have your shipment go into a black hole at U.S. customs or USPS if you want your overseas shipment in a reasonable time frame.
