Might be a dumb question but
I was wondering what the advantages are to changing a Condor or Talon SS to .25 cal over .22 cal? Is it just to shoot a heavier pellet? Thanks for you input.

You should get very close or just over 900fps with 42gr EJs with a stock condor.
Doesnt take much to open it up a bit, just a heavier hammer will do.
And blow up stuff that wasn’t broken! 😈 This .25 has a WOW factor that is hard to explain. 😉

It allows you to spend a bunch of money in order to fix something that isn’t broken.
No mods needed. 😀
Do you have a chrony? If you do, shoot over that and see where you are just from sticking the barrel in. If you need more juice, tune the valve to give you what you want. 😀
I now shoot 28.4 Eun Jins and dont see a whole lot above that in .25 cal that is why I wondered.
I have a .25 cal barrel on the way. Will I have to mod my rifle to shoot 43 Eun jins out of it? I am guessing a heavier hammer than the stock condor hammer I have.
Will my rifle be able to shoot a 43 Eun Jin in the 900 fps range with a stock condor tank?

I had the same question from .177 to .22, sounds stupid to move up thousanths of an inch right? how about doubling the weight of the pellet now that makes a difference for sure. Not a dumb question at all. like previous post these guns have power to burn. To keep under the speed of sound heavy weight pellets are a must !
Not a dumb question at all. After all; .25 doesn’t seem much bigger than .22. That .03 does allow for a significant amount of additional lead though. The extra weight allows accurate longer range shooting in many cases and delivers more energy to the target. The Talon/Condor platforms can easily be made powerful enough to utilize the advantages that a bigger projectile can bring. Also, for a lot of folks it’s just fun to change things up and modify the gun!

there are different trains of thought about heavy vs. light. not only in airgunning but in firearms and archery as well.
lighter: faster and more accurate due to the flat trajectory but requires more speed to have lots of energy.
heavier: more mass=more energy but with more of trajectory and requires more energy to propel the projectile.
if “paper punching” is all you do (plan to do)…light and fast, using wadcutter (flat nose) pellets is the better way to go. that’s what most wadcutters are designed for and that’s why most manfacturers use them for “advertised” speed; lighter and faster.
you want to hunt…go heavier…bigger animals…bigger heavier projectiles moving as fast, and as accurate, as you can get them to go. again: more weight=more KE
