Mill on eBay advice…
Anyone in the know, would this be worth the current bid?

Hah, you need to do some machining on your engine block without needing to remove the block from the car? You must have decided that would look great as a front yard ornament because you aren’t gonna slide that one in the garage thats for sure.
Deckel for a a Grand $ = £500 im sick ….. 🙁 . As afar as the new mill ….hmmm ,ive worked one of them and all i can say is the table takes for ever to move the table on the hand wheels …hehe
again, i got to say get one with a bigger table . this machine probably would’nt cut stuff steady . a bridgeport is way better . that one may be fine for auminum cutting in small amounts though =)

Now I’ll just have to check to make sure I have (can make) room for it. Then hope bidding doesnt go through the roof… which I’m thinking it will end up a lot more than the $450 its at right now.
Well as Marc says above , if its a Deckel or just German it will be TOP quality. Over here Deckels get amazing prices , about 2 to 3 Grand £££££ for that machine ….plus . To say im sick at that price would be an understatement , i would love one 🙁 . Dont worrie about the small table it will do everything you would ever want , ….unless your going to make a cannon ! . Bid , ship over here and sell for a mint otherwise ! 😀
Compared to a deckel a bridgeport isn’t even half as good. Ok it is pretty small but a deckel is top german quality!!
I live in holland. Buying a ticket to the US to look at it and arange shipping, the shipping itself and customs it would still be cheaper to buy that one then buy them locally here! They run around €6000-8000 here!
Deckel later fused with MAHO and they still make very nice CNC machines!

i don’t like the machine because of the short table , and 2 axis travel . or atleast i dont see any travle for in/out .other then the head , which is ok .
you would have to get the horizontal tooling , seems like a rough way to start with it having he cross feed bolt broke off .
. i have a 2 horizontal machines and a bridgeport , and almost always go the the bridge port for every thing . even though the horizontals ar better for cutter , just not as good al around .
im sure its worth the $400 for some one who wants to put alot more into it , the index head is worth a bunch . just that getting the rest of the stuff to run it would be hard , assuming it has no arbore /sleeves or colets .
as for hooking up to 3 phase , just pick up a static converter , about $100 and you can rig it up your self to 220v .( andersons converters )
i t is probably a good machine .

If you’re wanting a miller just make sure it has a quill. Mines fixed so i have to lift 1/3rd of a ton every time i drill a hole.
I think it looks like a pretty sweet machine and has several features that a Bridgeport doesnt have. Your going to spend a couple hundred extra to be able to run that at your house unless you already have 3 phase?
Appreciate the advice, just wondering what made you come to that conclusion?
couldn’t imagine buying that , look for a bridgeport they hold up well , that machine has very little going for it .
I’m familiar with eBay and sniping – I never bid until the last few seconds – Either manually or using Auction Sniper if I know I wont be able to get online, thanks for the tip though guys.
Just need some advice on the Mill itself… good, bad, parts hard to come by, “tooling will end up costing a fortune cos its freaking huge” etc etc.
The Lathe you have sitting in your truck was from eBay? Or is that another one.
There was a machinery place closing down here a few months ago. By the time I got there all the lathes/mills were gone… I could have kicked myself (or my wife for making me late).
Just snipe the thing, wait until 2 seconds before ending and bid what you are willing to pay. Thats how my dad got a Southbend heavy 10 lathe for $600.

I’m revolted. For that price I should have bought it arranged freight to holland and sell my hobby mill for the same.
