Mini Lathe Noise
My lathe makes a metallic clunking noise when drilling, comes from the headstock.
I’m thinking its an adjustment or bearing issue, but was looking for some possible causes/suggestions before I go in and take it apart.

It was a loose belt 😳
Even though it probably is Pixies, it might also be one of the following:
A loose pulley setscrew? Maybe when you drill, you load it up more and cause it to make noise?
Or, a bad thrust washer? There should be a washer that the main shaft pushes against, and maybe you have a chunk of metal shaving in there, or it could be a cracked ball bearing.

Unfortunately pixie infestations are rarely just one pixie. They roam in pairs and once nested, can reproduce at an alarming rate. I suspect you probably have a complete family there by now, hanging laundry on the cogs and wotnot. I recommend ‘ PixieBeGone’ You can get it in spray or powder.

It happens only when you drill and not when you are turning?
Pixies and not just Pixie? I was hoping if it was Pixies it would just be the one.
