Mini Mill Column Stiffening Mod (cheap)

Saw this somewhere else a while ago and thought it might interest some here that have the Mini Mill.

Peice of Iron Plate. This one was bought from Lowes for just under $10 – Its 12″ long and I think 3″ wide – thickest they had). Hole drilled with a Unibit #4, then dremelled out to fit the big column bolt. Mounted under the nut and washer.

Has helped quite a bit, here is an example video (I seem to have finger over microphone until the last few seconds…)

1/8″ aluminum, .15″ DOC at 12 IPM

I nice piece of C channel would be sweet. Still, anything you can do to stiffen it up.
