MkII Group Buy .25 Cal. Barrel (20 Shot String)…
Well look what showed up recently in my mail box!!! I haven’t cleaned it or even installed it in my rifle yet but will get to it soon… Thought I would post some images of Walt’s handiwork…
Thanks to Walt for his sweat and blood on this project, hopefully no tears were shed… 😆
I placed the 11 degree crown next to the stock crown for comparison…

It would be nice to be able to try them. CHEAP from the right places. Hornady makes them. Sold in large bags for shot gun shot. Can’t remember the size.
KM,
I have talked to Jerry about all this dude and will be getting some of them soon… I was just wanting something to shoot the solid round balls. Those are what I am wanting such a slow twist rate for!!!
I know they don’t have the weight to them that Jerry’s slugs will, but there are things those round balls are great for is you have the right barrel… I have yet to get a barrel to shoot them really well with…
For Solid rounds you really can’t beat Jerry’s SureFire Slug! 😉
Okie Dokie Guys,
Got my barrel just about 1 hour ago and I have the barrel all polished where the hammer slides on it and the breech slides back and forth, so as not to be an O-Ring chewing bitch as I slide the breech back and forth and then I polished the rest of the OD of the barrel ever so slightly to take the finish to a better polish look… Except where the bushings go!!! I left them as is and I will scruff that area up somewhat, so as to make a better anchor pattern for the red 274 loctite to set the bushings in solid as I can!!!
I also took the 11 degree crown to a brillant luster ever so softly, and now I got the barrel soaking in barrel cleaner as per Walts suggestions… Lots of dry patches, then soaked with cleaner till it comes out clean, then more dry till they come clean, now its soaking in lots of barrel solvent…
You just don’t think .25 is much bigger than the .22, till you eye the hole in the end of that air rifle barrel and compairing the two side by side LOL… I have pellets ordered and even a couple tins of the solid rounds to have a look see at those… They should be some big ass solid rounds LOL…
I would love to find a barrel blank to have Walt make me a profiled barrel with a 1: thirty-eight” twist to shoot nothing but the solid rounds… Solid rounds shot from the right barrel and in the right rifle are awesome for long range shooting… .25 caliber will be something to mess with that punches big lead down range LOL… Can’t hardly take the time to do this all like I want, as I am dying to shoot this big honker LOL…
I keep telling myself good things come to those that wait LOL…
Laterz
Edit: The darn emotion cons got me on the twist rate I was trying to talk about. I wrote it out now instead of the numbers of the twist LOL…
Mmmmmmmm, hypersonic pellets……..
😆
That seems to be low, have you try it with the Condor Valve second gen? Mine can do up to 1080 FPE with H&N 31 grain Heavy Pellets.
Not bad #’s considering it’s a Talon valve/tank, which may be faulty…
😯
Just wait till you put in a Condor valve it should really sing!!!!
Just shot a string with a full tank…
Stock Talon valve (probably faulty)

Normally I would think I have a real problem but this valve has had previous issues at a different top hat gap. I will be replacing this valve with a new Condor valve I recently purchased.
The same valve was pushing 10.6 grain 0.177 caliber pellets through a 24″ barrel at 970+fps with a th setting of 0.080″, pw 6/8 and using about 200psi in 10 shots. Which isn’t bad but the velocity was all over the place (min@ 884.3, max@ 967.5), I have another tank that works just fine in the same rifle.
I am quite surprised this valve can reach this velocity in this caliber on such little air. I even have a touch more room between the breach face and the tophat…
Looked at my pellet trap again… 😯 😯 😯 😯 😯 I may need more duct seal… 😯 😯 😯 😯 😯
Just set a Talon tank th to 0.110 and ran two shots over the Chrony…
PW at 15+
31.5 grain .25cal pellets…
675.5
671.6
That’s odd, seems slow… Throw the tank on the pump, 1500psi… I remember shooting this tank at the range last time I was there, I can barely type this my arms are so tired…
Looked at the hole in my pellet trap… 😯 😯 😯
Holy crap! 😈
Got the Chrony red led light set up, just used it for the first time. Awesome stuff, no bad readings ever again.
.177 ??? whats that.. .25 here i come (when i have the money for it) 😈
Mike
😆 I’ll never shoot my .177 cal barrels again… 😯
Life will never be the same! 😉 😀

Ok first off, I know nothing about crowning a barrel. I LOVE the look of the one you did, however, it looks like the original one offers better protection. Thread subscribed to.
