moderator question!!! HELP ME TOM CRUISE!
hello all, i was thinking of a moderator for a tuned .25 cal rifle. i have some specs for it that i dont want to deviate from too much. i only want 8.8″ past the muzzle, w/an O.D. of 1.85″. id like it to be baffled, though the design of the baffles im not sure of. w/a moderator this size, would the rifle be quiet? id like it to be neighborhood quiet…thoughts?

i have seen a few elephants dicks on some big bulls while on safari in Africa, and believe me- they are a LOT bigger than 15 inches long and 3-4 inches in diameter!!! picture about twice that size and you are in the ball park. i have a few pictures somewhere of the real deal and it is an impressive sight. sorry about the the thread highjack.
its for a special project i have in mind… id have to look at the BSA blanks if i chose to make changes to the mod specs…i might have to…

their is little room for error when you make a shroud (baffels or no) cause any missalignement will cause clipping …. 👿
oh believe me, i know!! there’s alot of good stuff here on the forum!! ive done a google search for baffles, and have come up w/alot of good stuff…thoughts on the mounting bit- maybe something like a pushbutton…or w/a twisting motion, locking lug(s) i dunno… w/threading the barrel there seems to me a good bit of room for error (clipping)- unless all the threads, baffles and endcap are completely concentric w/the bore…

Hmmmm… so, a baffle design…. thoughts? ive got some pics of what id like, but no way to get it done- i should’ve been a machinist instead of a heavy equipment operator…damn the luck!! well, if anyone would like to help me come up w/a design PM me!! cuz im also thinking of a different way of mounting it than threads. i really dont want to tread the barrel. and it wont be integral to the body tube… im building something special…

with 8.8 inches infront of the muzel it should be near silent….mine is 6″ from the front of the barrel to the end of the shroud and all you hear is the hammer slap and tank ping (so long as the pelet stays subsonic)…
8.8 ” of empty can past the muzzle will make a big difference! With the baffles, more so. With that much in front of the muzzle, you can expect it to be near silent if made right.
