Q:

mouse fart ?

bought the taipan veteran .22 got it today alls i had is 14.3 gr… and it was shooting at 1023-1025fps my card said 938-945fps for 18.gr, i shot down from 250 bar to 150 bar after turning back adjusting thingy ccw four turn and was shooting 935-937 for about all night it seemed …. i need to learn how to tune this gun down to about 900 fps with 14-15 gr pellets that all i need for dove and yard work … to tell u the truth i thought it would be more quiet .. my .22 warp 12″barrel with its slide on 3 baffle ldc was about the same ,a derf. sound, but the vet.was not much more quiet when i put the fatboy on it it helped the vet. but by the hipe i thought it would be more quiet than it was …..but shoots nice nice shot groups …feels good just kinda makes me like my warp a little more … but for a dove gun the taipan vet will work just fine ….. how far does that back adj. screw back off before you must turn down the reg to …. as soon as my 15 gr. get here i might use them more i just hate ordering pellets rather buy them at big 5 and for dove really don’t need 18gr. 14 works fine…..

i’m putting on a 17″ .22 barrel and a 17″ .30 on for the warp with new valve “adj. reg” “cobra kit” i think”hope” and a screw on ldc..and the warp with a 17″ barrel and screw on ldc will shoots as good as any gun out there.and the .30 barrel hell dime shots at 100 yards all day . i think the warp has and is a better gun than the taipan they talk about the trigger on the taipan but the warp trigger is its equal …and the warp will have much more power if needed…. so for a dove gun shooting 15gr.pellets the cz barrel taipan will do just fine… but for the brush ,camping, gun and getting jacks at 100yrds warp by far .i think ….. its nice to have both and i’m sure the vet. will grow on me … butt……

Tshooter does that Co. ship to the US ?

I got the name wrong, it should have been Decimeater, you can find it at the online store Krale from the Netherlands. 46.28 euros plus 25 euros for shipping. Not too bad, I think.

Of all the LDCs that I have, this one has the best volume to effect ratio, possibly the best in terms of effectiveness, period. It is servicable and has the same diameter of the factory shroud.

Sac,

Can you tell us where to get more information about the Decieater and cost?

How many shots do you get at 28 FPE?

TIA

Also, keep in mind that what the shooter hears is not necessarily what it sounds like at the muzzle end. I have recorded reports of my airguns using a mic placed 8 yards in front of me. It is quite surprising what I perceive is not necessarily what the recordings indicate.

That said, I shoot my Shorty (with a 14″ barrel) at field-target energy level (20 FPE), pushing JSB 14.3gr at 790 fps. The factory shroud does a good job, but adding a Decieater LDC made a significant difference. For some reason, the Decieater LDC does a better job than some bigger LDCs that I have with more volume.

Oh, BTW, don’t underestimate the JSB 14.3gr pellets. They are lighter than many other .22 pellets, but the BC is not bad at all.

Since mine is pre-veteran (cadet?), the max energy is about 28 FPE. Even with an added on LDC, the gun does bark a little more at 28 FPE compared to 20 FPE. That is expected, however.

cool played with it some today still only with 14.3 gr its pellet on pellet so a good shooter doing them at 937fps with all luck that will put the 16gr at 890-900 we’ll see tomorrow good shooter though

My .22 not being the newer veteran though shoots 16’s at 850 and 13.4’s at 930. And is very quiet!

Mine shoots both 16s and 18s well…I have stuck with 18s because they are more wind resistant by a noticeable amount. If that isn’t a big issue for you, 16s would be a good all around compromise.

With a DECENT ldc, 16s at 890-900 should be pretty darn quiet.

quote Ranger08:

The factory velocity (1000+) is definitely wayyyyy too high. The gun will be louder and so will the impact of those light pellets! I would think somewhere around 900-910 should tone it down quite a bit. You should be able to do that with the HST adjustment. (I use mine at around 880-890 with 18 grain pellets and it is wicked accurate.)

Only thing I find odd is that you say you made 4 full turns on the HST already…mine seems to adjust the velocity without such significant changes. On the other hand I have never tried turning it that much. Maybe others have more experience with what you can expect.

yes 1000 fps is way high but the gun was set to 18. gr pellets at 930″s so i just ran a few 14.3 threw to see and it was 1030fps…. i would never shoot them that high ….. then back off until i got to 937fps with 14.3 gr. but not knowing the gun and how far i was able to back off so i stopped it did seem like a lot of backing off ….my 16-and 18 gr pellets will get here tomorrow PA takes forever to ship stuff LOL ….and as for quiet when i read forever alls you can hear is the trigger and a poof thats what i expect this so far is no more quiet than my vulcan was both with ldc’s don’t get me wrong i like the gun it feels nice but i want QUIET DANG IT ….. i ll play with it some today after the wife leaves for work …. wish i had pellets waiting for two weeks and half for stuff to get here sucks …. i order pellets before i ordered the gun, ldc, scope and have them all but no pellets……
890-900 fps is what i’m after with 16gr. unless the 18 shoot better … more on shot count and etc… when pellets get here …. i live in the 8 largest city in the usa and can’t drive somewhere and get pellets sucks LOL LOL

Or his opinion of quiet is not the same and hype does have a certain effect. Also light pellets tend to be louder in my experience, not sure why

Mine arrives next week so I don’t know the quiet level yet but I’m expecting pretty quiet – based on all the reports. Seems like yours is at odds with most everyone’s experience. Maybe it needs to be shooting <900 fps to be quiet? How do the baffles look? Everything seem in order there?

Once you back the power down to reasonable levels there one of the quietest guns you’ll ever shoot.
