Q:

Moving on

It seems injuries have dictated my paths in life.

I was injured in the line of duty at age 31 and retired for life on a full pension. It allowed me to live in the wilderness, hunt for 25 years straight and travel the world.

I loved to hunt elk, but the last trip I got a migraine at 6200 feet, from the elevation and my police injury and it left me temporarily blinded in a foot and half of snow, I have not drawn a tag since then, perhaps I was lucky, but was foolishly ready to go with the Ranger 45 at any time if I got a tag, but the opportunity never came.

This last week at harvest, after feeling like superman for completing my 64000, 64th year, pushup ordeal in 10 months instead of 12 months, I tried to move a 1000 lb grape bin and hurt my back, it was a task I decided foolishly again that I had to do because of someone else’s lack of practical planning and I got caught up in it.

I could not get out of bed the next day and it was 3 days before I could put on my socks, right now Stoli vodka and copious amounts of Advil make life bearable, but I am healing up.

I had a trip to Asia planned to see Thailand again, with my wife daughter and her boy friend, Cambodia, mainly Angkor Watt, Viet Nam and to spend a few months with family in the Philippines. But it dawned on me if I hurt myself doing such foolishness, I can’t enjoy the years I have left and have worked to stay healthy and fit for.

Like going blind at 6200 feet in a foot and a half of snow to kill elk number 50, I realized I don’t need to do this grape thing anymore. Before I take off for Asia in a couple of months I will store everything including my car and when I return, I will not be living on the vineyard and I will no longer have a 300 yard range. I will get a house in town and live the summers stateside and the winters somewhere warm and exotic and exciting, hopefully.

I as a result, be selling all my air guns and equipment, everything shooting related before I leave.

Four yeas ago in the Philippines, I got interested in air gunning. It led me to this forum and Condors and then to cast bullets in Condors and then following Tofasfou and Doug, to that 615 yard 12 oz coke can with the Haley 257. I enjoy writing and long range shooting and I have enjoyed the journey. My thanks to Tony for the forum to write on and the rest of you who were not too bored by my posts.

Regards,

Roachcreek

So I sold first my Ranger and the accessories last week, and over the next

Hate to see you go RC. You have been a good friend and a tremendous help. Not to mention a great inspiration to many of us.
