Mutant on sale (1099)

This is really good deal. I’ve been considering buying this gun to cover the .22 side of hunting.one of the features I like is the safety option ,I’d like a .22 but hate to spend that kind cash on another gun after having bought a cricket .25. If my wife ever finds out what my new hobby cost there will be plenty of grief . 😆

That’s a decent price for you Euro guys with free shipping. They wanted like 100 € to ship it stateside. Even without VAT but given the exchange rate and shipping, it negated a good deal now that TGAG has them.
In my opinion, exclusive distribution rights hurts not only the consumer but also any small manufacturer. I’m glad someone found a workaround and it paves the way for other selections to come stateside without price gouging.
http://www.balistas.com/air-rifles/taipan-air-rifles/taipan-mutant-55mm/ here in CZ in € 1107.4 €
From TGAG’s site: “TOPGUN-AIRGUNS has renegotiated new pricing for the Taipan Mutant. We have acquired a number of guns without barrels for a good price.
TOPGUN-AIRGUNS is going to pass this saving on to you. We have contracted with a barrel manufacturer in the Czech Rep. for barrels for both Shorty and the Standard.
Though we have used this barrel manufacturer for many decades, we will test every gun for accuracy. BUT not just for one lucky 5 shot group. We will shoot the whole air supply…..
about 50 rounds.” Wow, testing each gun for around 50 shots…that’s a lot of work before shipping an individual gun, and at the sale price too. This bodes well for the buyer, imo. The whole world loves good customer service. Oh, I didn’t think the Short could give 50 accurate shots (same POI). I thought the shot count was less.

The Deal is…
The manufacture Only had enough CZ barrels to Outfit the Std’s, they used all the CZ barrels they had. The Shortys got the Korean Barrels…..
They aren’t Replacing barrels on Standards… They never had an Issue. If you read Topguns site it tells you. They Purchased the guns with out the Barrels…. contracted with a CZ barrel maker and are going to be outfitting them themselves (topgun)
I know the manufacture has there own CZ barrels on order and everything should be back on track by end of Feb …. maybe March.
Ya know, there was a time when I was happy to own nice springers: Beeman R1s, RWS 52,and 54, plus a few powerful Chinese samples (side-cocking B30, underlever T87, Chinese Beeman). Then two of my shooting buddies corrupted me to the Dark Side. Next thing I knew, I was on PCP-crack, airgun style. Bought and sold several interesting marques. I forced myself to detox and sought to find the one true golden pellet shooter while reducing my collection. I made it down to three airguns. But thanks to a new set of friends, I’ll be up to four again! I guess I’ll join the club of those who own an expensive EDC (Ed Dust Collector). I think I need a tweleve-step program to break this cycle! 🙁

So what’s the deal? I thought only the shorties had the the crap barrels and the standards have CZ barrels. The TGAG site has both sizes on sale (preorder). Are they replacing the barrels on the standards too?

I’m in the same boat as Dman. The Eddie is stupid accurate. I mean I can seriously cut playing cards in half at 50 yards with it. Yet there it sits. I can’t sell it because she’s so accurate but the mutant just gets more use.
Darryl the answer is yes.
I have an Eddie R3…. most accurate gun Ive owned/shot. but… The stock sucks, it has a shitty trigger and its around 4 inches longer. plus its louder.
so my eddie collects dust cause id hate to sell it… but what can yah do..
BTW will this gun make my Eddy a dust collector too? :fishinghole: Can there be just one?
Darryl
Ordered one Thursday, now my Edgun & AA510 will collect dust! Should be a great size to carry on the golf course.
It’s nice to know the prevailing opinions are that the Mutant is relatively sorted out (except for the snafu with the barrels). I hope the CZ barrels will lift the Mutant to an even higher level of form and function. It remains to be seen, but I hope for the best anyway. Data will tell the tale with the new CZ barrels from the manufacturer. I say expectations are high for the CZ barreled Mutants to shoot at least as well as the ones used in Keyser’s and others guns. I’ll sell a few extra pints of blood just in case…
Darryl
Yeh these guns have been Pretty dam good….
There really hasn’t been any issue so to speak Other then the Obvious…. ( the shitty barrels)
dman that is a great observation about people keeping their Mutants instead of selling.
I have a American Air Arms .357 slayer and a Wicked Air Rifles .25 with an extra .30 barrel coming in 2 or 3 weeks.
I originally purchased the Mutant to use until I got my FX Impact and then sell but never purchased the Impact because they sending customers bad guns with many problems etc.
The Mutant is the best air rifle I have ever owned. I have owned Daystate MCT .22, FX BOSS .30, FX Royale 500 .25, Air Arms S410 .22, and shot many others. The Mutant is not the prettiest but it won me over with its function. I especially like its magazine system. It is the best of any air gun as far as I know. The trigger is also very very good.
I doubt I will ever sell my Mutant even though I have some very nice guns coming. As a matter of fact I look forward to buying a Mutant in .177 some day or buy a .22 and convert to .177. I will have all calibers covered except the .20 which I am not interested in. Have several lifetimes supply of pellets in all calibers. My boy is 12 and I am sure he will help me shoot plenty of them when he gets a little older and I let him go hunting on his own.
I used my settlement from car accident where girl pulled out in front of me to buy this stuff. Dont have much left over after buying these guns and stuff but dont know how much longer I can stand the pain so I will enjoy my air rifles while I can. I do have some good days…just a lot less than I did before the accident.I had to have two disc taken out of my neck and two cages put in and 3 vertebrae fused together with titanium plate and six screws. It has been the hardest thing I have ever been through. Probably suffer the rest of my life. Nothing helps me more than shooting my air rifles. I still clinging on to my regular job because I am saving to send my boy to college.
Dman that certainly seems to be the case! :suprisedn: As someone once told me, it;s all good. I can only hope the models coming with the CZ barrels can live up to the performance reported here in this forum. Now to pass the time distracted from waiting for it’s arrival.

Yes, that is a great price TGAG has, and Petr says he will test each gun for accuracy before it goes out. It’s good to see the “little guy” get a break. Also, I checked out Balistas’ pricing too. TGAG’s price is a very good bargain for us U.S buyers as even with shipping, it beats Balistas’ price, and saves me $200.00 in comparison. AND I can get service right here in the US of A!
But Balistas’s price can’t be ignored in Europe. That’s a good price they have there.
