Q:

MUTHA F’NG TANK!!!!!

New tank/valve from AF. Built a collar and using a grade III bolt in the hole, tank is held with magazines wrapped around it in the bottom of the vise… the hole in the valve body is elongating due to all the stress and the #*(*#&*$&$*( valve is still in there solidly. You guys used heat on this?? How much?? I don’t want to ruin the temper on the aluminum….

Get in a nice hot bath with it for 30mins or so… 😉

Make a coller from a pipe slip over valve and insert a bolt through it onto the valve.

Monkey wrench the collar and it will come off

Yep, same here as YN. It tried to be a bitch, but we got e’r done. 😉

I used a Heat Gun for a little bit – Not sure on temp but certainly not enough to start messing with the chemical properties of the metal.

Can always use heat gun for a bit, try it, use heatgun bit more and repeat till its off.

I had tried everything getting the valve off and it wouldnt budge. Heat gun and very short, sharp taps from a SMALL hammer on the bolt got it off no problem.

It doesnt require brute strengh – just needs a little shock and heat to break the bond.

No Heat ! USe a 12″ pipe wrench with cheater. Gingerly and firmly grip the valve and remove it – then use a file to remove the wrench burrs. Straighten the elongated hole with a belt sander or file and re-install it with your tool that you made. Careful to not get any filings in the valve

😯 Damn, this is my fear as well when trying to change a valve… 😯

The tank is aluminum and the valve is steel so maybe just a little heat will do. Someone here knows this, YN I think… 😕

I had the same problem ended up using a big pipe wrench.
