To get the maximum shot count possible, the regulator must be set at a low BAR pressure and the hammer spring tension adjusted so that it is hitting with as less force as possible just enough to get the desired velocity. Also, the valve spring needs to be stiffened just a bit. Setting the regulator to a lower operating pressure is not the only thing that needs to be done. You can get 600 FPS from a low regulator operating pressure, but if the hammer spring tension is too great (which would result in inefficiency) and the valve spring tension is not fine-tuned, you won’t get as much shots as a gun that has all three properly tuned (regulator, hammer and valve spring) whether you use .177 or .22. pellets.
My .22 Cricket has been tuned to shoot .22 16-grain pellets at 535 FPS (10 FPE) and I can get 320 shots.
What I mean is .177 is extra thirsty, just look at the specs on manufacturer websites, same gun same air cc but the .22 almost always have mors shots. .177 70 shots. .22 80 shots etc

.177 is thirsty for air when high power but if you lower the power you get a lot of shots
My .177 gets about 70 shots at 27j – 285mps with 10,34gr jsb
But 27j is not necessary, right now it is set at 10j or 7,4 fpe for backyard shooting until the .22 gets here, very quiet and over 300 shots per fill
It must be great fun for plinking. With the .25 you need a PROPPER backstop and need to be real carefull when shooting into trees (or at an upward angle). So I dont plink much, but I would like to start again. How many shots per fill do you get with your cricket?
I have a .177 cricket and even shooting jsb heavy at 285mps or 935fps it is backyard friendly
