Q:

My Cricket broke today

Out shooting some pest birds and went to take another shot and all I hear is “click”. Tried several time. I think I even accidentally loaded two pellets. Any ideas as to what may have happened? The previous shot seemed normal

I bought it used in September and put maybe 2000 shots through it. Don’t know how many the previous owner did. It was the guns first cold weather venture however. The cocking lever was closed all the way, I’m quite sure. I have emailed Ernest and he said WWAG is trying to acquire some valve stems. There are currently none in the US. I will have him tune it while he has it also. My new R3M arrived last night so at least I have something to play with, until that plastic stem breaks anyway, Haha

Yep, Ernest will fix you up. I had him replace an Edgun R3M plastic valve with his metal/delrin while he was doing some other mods. The plastic valve worked fine, but I wasn’t sure about the valve surviving a lot of subfreezing shooting.

You didn’t partially close the cocking lever at any point?

quote sniperlabyo:

After disassembled most of the HB parts, I come to realized its better made and durable then the cricket, the HB cocking lever and linkage are so heavy duty, not like the cricket—if you leave the cocking lever open/not completely lock forward the hammer will brake the cocking plate hook. not the HB—>>> if you dont push the cocking handle all the way forward the hammer will hit the cocking lever in the action and will not open the firing valve. the cocking pin on the hammer is 1/4″ harden pin—see photo.

How many shots, approx., are through the gun?

Not sure. Gun was bought new in June of this year. I’ll have to email Ernest and come up with a plan

Probably your cricket has the old plastic valve. The newest models has fitted with metal valve.

yup

Is that what they call the valve stem?

“click” normally means broken poppet valve..
