My first .357
Ok I have shot a few+ air rifles and some are fairly loud but by far my new little toy is the loudest I have ever shot. Evanix Rainstorm 357/9mm left my ears ringing.
I donβt think its possible making this thing backyard friendly unless I… π‘ I can get a 12″ long 2″ diameter dust collector! :biggrinn:

Correct Wing, that is the EPP/UG, …….shot wonderfully in the .45 version too out of my 909s too
With a .357 Pup isn’t just the barrel, the .357 shoots completely different than a small bore, the shooter needs to put some time in and learn to shoot the gun before blaming the said gun for poor accuracy,…and that is what happens way to often.
EPP/UG .358 is the bullet to shoot out of .357 Airguns
This is what it does in action π π
and this
No need to look for a new barrel for the Stormpup .357, just learn to shoot it, I got a 7 shot group the other day that I didn’t even want to take a picture and post it because I was afraid people would start screaming” Bloody BullShit !!!!! ” :biggrinn: :biggrinn: :biggrinn: :biggrinn: :biggrinn:
I have a few other builds to get through before I tackle the 9mm but heres a pick of the .35 JSB pellet slugged through my new 20″ Rossi barrel
Theres good grooves in both the head and the skirt and the head goes from 0.3600″ (skirt .0365) to 0.356″ when pushed through the bore.
If the pellets dont shoot well in this 1-20″ twist Ill just shoot cast bullets, they are cheaper and more consistent anyway
“The 9mm airgun barrel is designed for a solid pellet of 0.355. So, again JSB is off just like in the 30 cal.
So, for now we do not have anything.”
This is the second time I chatted with them and they say (more or less) that their .30 and 9mm were designed for cast bullets and not JSB pellets. I dont know about you all but, I can’t justify spending 300 on a blank and machining cost when LW company states (they dont have anything) at this time” based of the JSB dimensions….
Not all airgun barrels are choked and they still shoot well with pellets. It seems that choke is bad for bullets but you can get good accuracy with pellets without a choke.
Keep us posted how that works I’M VERY INTERESTED MYSELF. π so get to work!! haha
I am currently building a .357 JSB pellet shooter on a Rossi 20″ 1-20″ twist barrel which slugs up real well for the JSBs so Ill be interested to see how it shoots them.
OK… Just got an email from ‘Woody’ at Lothar Walther here in the US with this statement:

So I see a cricket is comming out with a 357/9mm and they are using a LW barrel but, it looks like a custom LW barrel just Cricket using a JSB pellet most likely
Cricket website: LW 600 mm(23.6″) long – choked – 12 grooved barrel – 450mm (17.7″) twist
LW website states: 28 long – no choke – 6 grooved barrel – 16in twist
Im very interested in this barrel!!!
Remember that the percieved noise from the shooter position on those big caliber pups is significantly more that the down range noise
Ronin give Neil a call, he made a LDC for my RS2 .357 and made it VERY quiet.
Backyard target shooting? What would one use as a backstop? 1/2″ boiler plate, stacked 2X12’s ? A ricochet could poise some serious legal problems, should you nut-shoot your neighbor’s ox, or worse…your neighbor’s nuts! so take care, and DON’t test shoot the new LDC in the basement, especially when everyone is asleep!
Hoot:
was going to say the same thing. a 357 is not urban friendly, almost not even sub-urban friendly. more country friendly or woodswalker where there isnt people around for atleast a mile.
remember ronin. power makes noise, unless your one of them honda ricer noobs then you think noise makes power :confusedn:
Upon careful consideration, one might not consider a .357 pcp to be an urban-friendly hobby instrument, no matter how quiet you make the report.

My .357 rainstorm is amazingly dead on between the end if the barrel and 75 yards with the Jsbs but that’s the furthest I’ve shot with it. It’s a fricken wrecking ball when it drills something. I’d still love to try some of the casted bullets Manny speaks of. I never casted my own, but I have a feeling that’s just right around the corner for me. π
