Q:

My indoor chrono lighting solution.

Well I found the price on PY for lighting up the chrony to be high and I thought of making my own.

All it took was :

a few metres of electrical wire
a wall mounting switch
a bed switch
2 nut screws for the chrony to mount well to the base of the wooden plank.
hand full of nails (for joining respective pieces of wood)
electric or hand saw.
a sheet of ply wood or (pieces of plywood to get the job done)
Fevicol adhesive
2 Bulb holders and their corresponding screws to mount onto the wooden plan (Nut/bolts)
2- 60W Bulbs (Cheap, even if you blow them off, easier to replace)
Clips to dress the electrical cables

I think I have covered all. (Will append if I recollect anything)

This thing is error free and sturdy and can be moved around wherever you want.
I do all my chrony reading indoor, into the pellet trap.
I power on the lighting system both during the day and night, never had a problem since I build this one.

Earlier I use to keep 2 table lamps above each sensors, borrow a couple of plastic jars of same height from the kitchen and use them as stands for the table lamps.
Then put the chrony on its box it ships with. All this use to be done for perfect height adjustment. After a couple of adjustments and errors it use to work. But I said to my self “I’ll have to make a unit which doesn’t need all these adjustments”.

Now I just power on and shoot away to glory.

Enjoy the pics.

Will chip in dimensions if anybody wants them.

Never got the time to paint the wooden frame made for it, will have to work on it on a weekend

Q:Why the bed switch ?
A:I just cut the supply to the battery and placed a serial connection to the bed switch.
That way I can have the bed switch 3 metres away from the chrony beside me where I have the gun in a vise or on my lap. (Airguns in my case)
On/Off and resetting can be done with the bed switch without leaning forward to touch the unit.

Enjoy folks..

I am sure you guys can have your thoughts put ahead and have modifications and have a better design, but this one I just love it..

Shooting Chrony Beta Master Chronograph with Remote

I made it sound worse than it is, but it does have to have good light.

my shooting station outside is under the trees ,so i have a light hanging over it in case it doesent want to work right, it also is picky about how much light , direct sunlight etc. cloudy. etc, etc,
dam thing must be female. 🙄

Ive always wondered if the flickering of the bulbs messes with the readings? If so DC would be the way to go.

Incandescent bulbs remain hot between phase shifts – maintaining a constant light source.

That’s really cool man, if you ever want to use it were you don’t have electricity , you could put 12 volt bulbs in it and run a cord to your car battery 🙂

:thumb:

Or you could take it out under open sky and shoot to glory….during the day…
And if youve lost power to the house…you dont wanna use the chrony at that hour….. 😈
Would take just a minute to get it out of the case.

The Chrony is held to the case with 2 screws, one at the centre.( the same kind used in bipods and the groove is provided by company for those who want to mount them on tripods.

2 nd is the groove right ahead of the unit in front of the digital display. ( So no extra holes had to be punched on the Chrony)
