Q:

My latest addition, AA410ERB, sidelever

Got this one last week, a beautiful walnut AA410 in .22 caliber. Set it up next to my old trusty FWB124; the old girl has never had her picture taken. The Condor is being used by my Father-in-Law, or it would have been included in the photos.
The stock on the 410 is flawless, and I just aquired a beech stock for it to hunt with from Dave Dunn, it will be arriving monday. Bottom left of the picture is a carbon tank I picked up from Joe Brancato, 44cu’ and filled with Nitrogen woo-hoo! I gots portability 😛

The FWB is wearing my Leapers SWAT that I used on the Condor. The Condor is now wearing a Bushy Legend.

I set the 410 up with a Hawke 6x16x44mm SR. I gotta tell ya, this thing is awesome. The christmas-tree reticle is superb and the software to calculate aiming points works really well.

First groups with the 410. One shot with a crow-magnum… hit almost sideways. I guess even a superb barrel cant shoot them worth a damn.
Other groups are 5 shot each, aiming points are the little black circles.

All pellets would have stacked into a dime, except the one I pulled on the kodiaks when my elbow slipped. What surprised me most was the POI is identical at 40 yard for 3 different pellets I want to use. Cant ask for better than that.

I was going to try predators, but they are too long for the magazine. I forgot about trying the single-shot tray, so will be testing them later.

they need to add a 10 round clip to AF!

You are so right about the wife shooting better than me.

I look at it this way. When the gun shoots better than I do, I can’t blame the gun. Almost every time I am having a bad day, she will sit and tear the bulls from the target.

She also got the first sub-MOA at 100y with the Condor, I still can’t live that one down.

She has been a great “truth-teller” when it comes to my guns. She took ownership of my 10-22 though, so I may have to keep the 410 to myself. 8)

No problem, YN.

Hey Riff, I’d like to suggest you don’t let anyone else shoot it, lest they shoot it better than you and make you feel bad. I let my wife shoot mine once and now I have a nice 35 yard target with her name on it stuck on the shop door. Dammit! 😀

Another thing on the S410 I remembered: When you’re cleaning the barrel, watch out you don’t get too much oil or goo-gone on your patch before you push it in the muzzle (hopefully you use a pull-through like I do now). I had a bunch of goo-gone get squeegied off some patches and it ran down inside the shroud. When I shot, there was a cloud of mist that came out of the shroud vent holes back by the breech. Not good.

And, read up on the trigger mod if you can find it. They come with o-rings from the factory, and you replace them with 1/8″ shim washers for a perfect trigger feel. The shim washers should be available at you local hobby shop under the RC car motor rebuilding section. They use them to shim the armature in the motor housing.

Get out and shoot! 🙂

Hey YN, if you’re still looking for a home for that tray, shoot me a PM. I’d like a tray for when the rifle lives inside, waiting for fuzzy targets of opportunity. The rotary mag sucks at times like when the target goes skitterin’ off and I don’t get to take the shot. Mine’s a .22 if that matters for the tray. Let me know a price if you still have it.

Sorry – I mailed it to Sherrod on Wednesday.

I bet it is really a good gun always wanted one just didn’t buy when I had the urg.

Youre right, JSB heavies are this guns favorite. It recently grouped Kodiaks very well though but they do not shoot quite fast enough for me Im too used to the Condor trajectory LOL.

I really like how it is grouping 4 different pellets into the same hole at 25-40 yards. POI is only about .25″ different and thats vertically. I havent had the opportunity to stretch it out yet, but I expect the POI to drift apart when I do.

Dave Dunn sold me an old-style beech stock from his 400 at a very cheap price. I couldnt say no. The walnut stock is now wrapped in bubblewrap, desiccant and inside a heavy-duty gun case.

I bought this gun to hunt with, and I just couldnt live with myself if I boogered up that walnut. I actually like the fit and feel of the beech better, go figure. 🙂

Nice S410 RiffRaff! I’ve got the same, but bolt action and beech stock.
You will find it gets a bit louder when the air pressure drops.
Mine is real happy at 3/4 power setting for accuracy. Puts a smile on your face every time. JSB Exact Heavies are the best, but regular JSBs are right up there too.

Very nice rifle ya got there. How is the report on that beast?

A lot quieter than I expected. I can shoot on full power in my yard, and my wife cannot hear it in the house.

I hadn’t sent it….

I like the heavy JSB’s in mine the best, used to shoot Kodiaks but with the JSB’s I don’t have to use as much hold over when I turn the power down.

Whoa YN hold on, I already have the single tray!

If you already sent it, Ill put it in the recycle bin.

Shot this gun today with predators, groups the same but hit to the left a bit.

Shot a 10 shot group with the 18gr JSB that was smaller than any in the picture above, woo-hoo!

Kodiaks shot much better today too.

Almost forgot, Kodiaks @ 840fps. 18gr JSB @ 890fps. CPs @ 950fps.
Got the Chrony sorted too, there was a friggin spider livin in the front sensor housing LOL.

Very Fine Rifle M8.

Look forward to seeing some huntin’ action with her.

Peace,

Nice groups!
I hope to have one by the end of the week 8)

Mine can’t shoot Crow Magnums worth a damn either.

Very nice gun!

Cool Riff, the S410’s are great guns 😀 Mine likes JSB’s as well.
