My MK1 LD
A brown box came today from Mac1. I have been patiently waiting for my new MK1 LD to arrive. I picked up a nice Crosman Mk1 from the YF Classified (thanks Stephen!) and drove it over to Tim on a Saturday morning. When I got there it was a few minutes before he opened and he already had people hanging out chewing his ear.
I told Tim what I wanted and paid the man. Then the wait started. I then left and went to a great BBQ place near his shop that I saw on Diners Dives and Drive Thrus http://www.jaybeesbbq.com/ true memphis BBQ in L.A. it was not a little good, it was great and people where lining up as it opened. So if near Mac1 get some lunch at Jay Bee’s. I let the great pulled pork sandwich ease my pain of waiting for my custom airpistol to be completed.
4 weeks pass and my LD is ready and Tim is shipping it out. When I get a call from home that a pkg has arrived I sneak out the back door of my office and drive home only to bring the pistol back to work. As I opened the well wrapped pkg the LD was finally home. Hard to believe a pistol over 30 years old could look so new. I had Tim put on a 10″ barrel and the rest of the LD treatment. When I got home I put the BKL mount on it and a Center Point scope on, the bug buster equivalent in 6x. It took about 5 shots to get it zeroed in at 20 yards and it was hitting hard and was making one hole even with my shaky hand while I rested on a tripod.
The trigger was fine and light the weight of the gun 3.12 lbs with scope and mount balanced nicely. It was a very hard hitting gun with accuracy that was very impressive in a short time period. I have plans to craft a vented shroud to quiet it down to whisper levels. So to make a long story short….I am very happy and recommend people getting one while you can.
I also have 2240’s and 1377’s and while they are nice guns no matter what you do to them they are not in the same league as the LD. The LD feels like a quality made custom pistol and is worth every penny! Thanks Tim…as always.

If you don’t mind wasting a CO2 cart to check this (if it doesn work) then get an used cartridge, liberally put some non detergent motor oil (or pellgun oil if you have it) on the end of the co2 cart and install it in the gun, remove it, do that again to make sure its fully lubed up and then wait a little while and install an unused CO2 cartridge.

It was patterned after the Ruger Mark I. Later I bought a similar one patterned after the S&W Mod. 41. If I remember the model right. Sold that one too. Seems like it was marked Daisy. It had the same firing mechanism. I picked up another one at a local gun show a few years back. This one is marked S&W. It is a very slender, and well balanced pistol. Problem i, as soon as you insert the Co2, it all leaks rapidly. In under 20 seconds. Do you think it could be repaired. It is a good looking Gun!

Sure it can. It needs some seal thats all. Mac1 Airgun can fix all that stuff. His webpage is out of date but you can get his contact info from there.
This Mac1 LD he built for me is a tack driving machine. It has won many airgun silhouette competitions. It really is fun to shoot a pistol that is so accurate.
I had one years ago in .177. I loved popping black birds in the back yard with it. It was back when I lived in Huntsville ala. Some how I let it slip away.

That is what I thought also. It really is not as bad as all that. I bought the gun for $135. The work done by Mac1 for a HW Barrel, Hot Valve, Trigger Job, Imron paint job, Probe work, Scope rail, New seals was only $235 incl tax.
When you pick this gun up it does not feel like a Toy Airgun. It has the heft of a firearm and feels better in the hand. 1″ at 50 yds is not to shabby for a pistol either.
You know, thats one gun that’s always interested me, but I’ve never got one. For me, I cant see spending that kind of cash on a CO2 pistol… BUT… I’ve yet to hear from someone who actually has one say it’s not worth it.

I never have liked CO2 for it’s incredible inconsistencies. Besides, the only way to play paintball is with compressed air/nitrogen.
I was one of the first guys in So cal to run compressed air and did so for about 8 years in paintball. Played everyweek end for 4 years and every other weekend for 5 years before that.
This gun is very consistent down to 45 degrees. But it can run comressed air from one of this tanks screw into the bottom with an adapter.

I will think about bulking. I hate dealing with CO2 and getting them filled only to have them leak or the burst disc blow on a hot day. That brings back a lot of bad memories from paintball of years long past…lol
Would he have a condor valve and tank? I might just have to go down there.
Tim is more about getting it working correctly and is not know for custom mods for them.
Then you are familiar with Interstate BBQ!

Just make sure you get out of town by dark…LOL. Not the best of neigbhorhoods.
I live like 20 mins away from his shop. Does he do custom work on the Airforce guns?

I was shooting toothpicks in half today at 20yds with CP’s. I then decided to paint the grips with bed liner. It feels great.
