Q:

My money is finally on its way!

Finally after a long wait my money is coming in 😀 🙂

If anybody’s considering selling a condor .25 let me know. If a used one doesn’t come up I’ll be ordering from pyramid.

My plan is to start taking small hogs, squirrel and rabbit so I’ll be ordering everything from TT that will improve the performance of the condor.

I didn’t get as much money as I was hoping so I’m going to have to sacrifice having Tony do a tune job on it for the $800 on an air tank setup (unless an extremely good deal shows up on a used tank).

I’ll be waiting on hunting rabbit for the next cold weather and I’ll be missing squirrel season shortly so I’ll be focusing on getting the gun shooting well with the 43 gr pellets for some hog, any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks for this forum and all the knowledge everyone has put forth.

Thanks AirGun,

I haven’t been able to fill my 106 cu ft tank yet but I was able to finally shoot a few shots with the air that came with the gun :biggrinn:

I dropped the power wheel down to around 10 just to get a few shots in while getting the scope a little sighted in.

There was about 5 of us taking a few shots and it was pretty awesome to hear and see the power out of this thing 😀

At 50 yds it was easily going through a 1×4 behind the target, I believe it changed my son in laws mindset about air rifles. He said he wanted to get one until I told him how much I spent for this setup.

Anyway, can’t wait to get some air and get the gun chrony’d and set up. I’ve got a little squirrel season left so that’s what I’ll be focusing on first.

Congrats on your new rifle!

Finally had time to at least pull everything out.

I have to say it was great to finally hold one instead of just staring at pictures. I was very pleased that the weight and quality of the gun surpassed how it looks on the internet.
They did a great job of packing everything also.
I’ll be able to shoot in a couple of days 🙂 🙁

You probably did not sleep last night thinking about that new gun sitting in the box unopened. That is not the way to start a relationship.

When my condor showed up from Pyramidair it still had around 2400 psi in the tank. Good enough to shoot and try things out.

Keep us informed on your progress.

We shall definitely see 🙂

You know how things go when the new wears off.

The gun came in today but I didn’t have time to open it yet. Hopefully the gun has some air in it because the air tank won’t be in for a couple of days.

Rick….you will change this post from “MY Money” to “My Honey”. Keep us informed.

Thanks reaper and all,

Great forum!

I wound up going through R&L airguns, it kinda just happened and worked out really well.

I ordered a .25 condor 24″ barrel with the shroud, extreme valve, spin lok tank, bipod and a utg 4-16×56 scope and side wheel.
Randy has a nice 106 cu ft task and hose setup for $565 which is also coming in next week and a chrony.

He fired it for me sighting in the scope and was getting quarter size groups at 50 yds with the 43 gr pellets I was very happy to hear that.

I’m anxious to play with the gun to see if it tightens up any.

here you go, got the link for you for midway. 681 and free shipping beats the 700 and free shipping from pa and its the spinlock bottle. my girlfriend really wants the blue condor ss in 22 so i have had a lot of time to do price shopping. so if you decide to go new then there you go.

if not a member of the yellow forum i suggest you sign up and watch the classifieds for a while, they usually pop up regularly for about the same at 650 but often are already tuned with all the goodies

doesnt like the heavy pellets because the barrel is choked i believe. i read something on the YF about this a while back about how the barrel throws that pellet you want to use around because the choke and the density i believe.

anyways, yes right between the eyes or below the ear from behind are great shot placement areas for hogs.

most of the time you will be withing 30Y for your shots so you wont need anything bigger then a compact optic for hogs, but bunnys you will need more range.

i see people with bugbusters on condors because the compact size and ruggedness but because the sidewheel adjustment as well. only need a 3-9 for hogs, and i suggest 3-9 only or maybe a fixed 6x optic.

for bunnies a 3-12 is fine and maybe a 4-20 cause the likelyhood of getting closer then 30Y and the want for headshots on a bunny and the small area needed to hit the brain require a more precise optic.

PA has the spinlock condor ss for 700 free shipping. found them cheaper at midway for like 689 i think for the spinlock and i suggest the spinlock tank unless you arent lazy like me and dont mind taking the tank off every time to fill it  !!!

the standard condor with the 24″ barrel makes better use of the pressure from the condor and you can contact mike at mrodair to get a shroud unit for them as he makes the silver add on units for airforce it would be more expensive to go the standard condor with a shroud but you get that extra power utilization from the longer barrel but thats all up to you, can always go longer barrel later and get the shroud extension later when you go longer barrel if need be if you do decide to go that route.

also a suggestion, the talonp is only available in a 25 cal and is a little cheaper then the condor and you could then afford to have it tuned

I’ll definitely be taking head shots, one shot I have learned about (was it pan or manny ?) is right between the eyes, I look forward to giving it a shot :biggrinn: .

If I was entitled to have a complaint (which I”m really not :geekn: ) about most of the stories I’ve read everywhere and even on youtube videos, while I was learning what gun I wanted, it was that the distance is rarely mentioned especially in hunting.
It is mentioned at times, but I’m always more interested in the distance i.e.. a hog was taken. I’ll be starting I guess around 40 yd’s on the smallest hog and go from there.

So, something around a minimum of 60fpe at what distance will take down what size hog?

coming out of a condor,
27.8gn benji domes,
or 31.02 H&N baracudas will take down hogs beautifully,

just ask manny 🙂

headshots are mandatory IMO

Well Dyotat that’s not very good news :suprisedn:

I was hoping the 43’s would work so I wouldn’t have to go to cast pellets. Is everybody having the same issue? I need to read back over the forum (it’s been a while) and see if that’s been a common problem on all of the .25 LW barrels.

I plan on getting the SS model if I have to buy new just because it’s a little quieter, I wonder if barrel length makes a difference.
